Japanese Knotweed dosage for Bartonella

Hi,

I was planning on buying this brand of Japanese Knotweed for bartonella (if anyone has any better U.K. brands please let me know)

Am I right in thinking it’s 1/4 teaspoon 3x a day? How many drops is that? Would that me the case for the above product?

yep - not many suppliers actually in the UK

but some that do ship to the uk

i have used Bristol botanicals before - they are fine - just a bit expensive

dosage for knotweed for bartonella acc to Buhner is - 1.25-2.5ml 3x per day
there are around 40 drops per ml

its non toxic and doses for lyme are higher - 30ml per day of tincture or 30g of powder
but its more supportive than antimicrobial

he suggests sida acuta and houttuynia cordata for antimicrobials for bartonella
doses of those are:
sida 1.5-3ml 3-4x per day
houttuy 2.5ml - 3x per day

i have had to start as low as 1/20th or less of the target dose and then very gradually increase at a rate i could manage

that dose of 30g is just powdered root weight

some supplements are concentrated extracts that have been standardised to contain approx. 10% resveratrol - these will always say so in the label as its a selling point
others are just root powder compressed into tablets

i am not sure which the one you are taking is

buhner says its a food grade herb -- not toxic even if eaten in large amounts

i don't know about tea - its a common way to take Chinese herbs - but Buhner does not give doses for it - i suspect because he recommends such large doses -

tea would certainly not hurt - but to get the same dose of the constituent chemicals from a tea as in 30g of dried herb would be a huge amount of tea.
tea does not typically extract very much of the plants active chemicals - maybe 20-30% - so you might have to make 3-5x 30g of dried material to reach the same as consuming 30g of powder- but its hard to be exact

one thing he does write about though is that the herb is edible whole - apparently the shoots can be steamed and eaten like asparagus spears - and the leaves can be eaten also - i think in salads - or again steamed like spinach - probably the young leaves would be best.

apparently it was eaten in lots of countries when food was scarce in WW2

one caution - if i recall correctly Buhner says to be wary of eating it if harvested on previously industrial land - as the plant is known to sequester metals etc from contaminated soils - but the same goes for most plants

I am a new member, but just wanted to mention Napiers Herbalists in Scotland.
They have a connection with treating Lyme disease and run a Lyme Clinic as well as providing herbal products and tinctures etc. Monica Wilde, herbalist is a member of ILADS.

I have not personally used the Lyme Clinic at Napiers, but have ordered herbal tinctures.
I believe they offer a discount if you mention that you have Lyme disease….I ordered by telephone and found them very knowledgeable and personable.
I believe Monica Wilde and Professor JL from Ireland have worked together regarding Lyme if you google it.

if powdered root - the buhner recommended dose is 30g per day ( but that's full dose worked up to over a period of time - he suggests a few weeks )

in tincture form teh dose is 30ml per day (1:5 ratio 70% alcohol)

he was recommending a tablet form at one point also - which was a standardised extract tablet
if i recall it was made by source naturals

this is the first link that came up -

the product is 500mg tablets of 8% standardised extract
with 40mg total resveratrol's in each
he recommended you work up to 16 of these per day - 4 lots of 4 with food

these are the doses given in his books for lyme -
the doses for bartonella alone are much less
but few people here seem to have bartonella without lyme - so perhaps these are the best guide
