I tried Osha Root extract for several weeks for immune support, and I think it is the cause of an allergic reaction I suffered during the time I was taking it. I took roughly 30 drops 2x day, unsure of what the exact milligrams is in that amount. In the first couple of days I took it, my throat felt tight, a common MCAS-related symptom for me. I did research and Osha Root is used to treat allergies sometimes, so I did not immediately stop taking it since I wasn't sure it was culprit.
Continued taking it, and then had a major reaction with burning skin all over my hands/arms along with hives and red rash one morning. 12.5mg of Benadryl + 1000mg Quercetin curbed the reaction. Have not taken Osha since and haven't had anymore reactions.
I can't find any reports online of reactions to Osha. I know that it's in the celery/carrot/parsley family, and aside from parsley dropping my blood pressure when I take capsules of it (due to diuretic effects), I have no issues tolerating those.
It did do a fantastic job of clearing my sinuses and I breathed through my nose all night instead of my mouth, which is a huge plus for me.
Just wanted to put this out there as a heads up for anyone who has MCAS/histamine issues and is considering taking Osha.

Thanks alsmith, That’s good to know… I won’t be adding that to my protocol.

It's always tricky how you react on a herb and be careful with introducing new herbs.
My husband is also hyper sensitive too food (histamine etc). We thought we read somewhere (i can't find the link back) that osha is high in oxalates. Therefore he doesnt take it. I take sometimes a capsule but not often.
I reacted allergic on green lipped mussel a time age after taking it for 10 days. I tried it for joint pain but was no good idea. Since then i also can't tolerate krill oil anymore .. i hope this will change again.
