i will give it a watch

i have seen a few Project Lyme videos before and they were mostly quite well done

i have noticed a few mentions of Dapsone "helping the immune system" recently

i think this might be said because it is sometimes used in auto-immune skin conditions
so perhaps the though is that it may also help the generalised auto-immunity that lyme ( or any chronic infection) causes - so i will be interested to hear what is said about that

I'm a bit wary of using too many anti-inflammatory drugs, as suppressing the immune response prevented my immune system from removing the dead/dying bacteria, and has led to secondary infections including viruses and fungi. The video doesn't mention this side effect, but does talk about G6PD and anemia.

Nonetheless, Dr. H does seem to be having good results with dapsone despite some risks.

I've had some success hitting borrelia with nucleoside analogues (acyclovir) rather than trying to deplete nucleotides with anti-folates (dapsone) but I wonder if a combination of these might be beneficial.

wow, i think Horowitz gets more manic the older he gets!

well worth a watch
some hints at some interesting findings that should be referenced in his new paper
-Babesia widespread genetic resistance mechanism
-common variable immune deficiency in multiple bart/ babs infected Lyme patients

i would have liked to hear more about what was claimed in the notes "dapsone helps improve the immune system"

i was a bit surprised by the use of high doses of methylene blue at 600mg / day - but i guess its only short term with the 6 day pulse of high dose dapsone - so that's in line with its old use in malaria.

i think the logic is pretty sound - he has demonstrated that treatment doesn't have to be years if you use high dose pulses of combined persister drugs - and its the peak dose for a short time (days)that's critical (this is a v new finding) - not the combination of antibiotics for years as has been done by most to date - focussing on drug combinations and length of treatment

he has also given good info on what works for bart vs lyme vs babs

i will keep an eye out for the paper when / if it gets published

ps - meant to say - i dont think everything that is an anti-inflammatory is necessarily immuno-suppressive

the way i think of it is that the immune systems regulators are a combination of maybe 30 or more cytokines, chemokines and cells that all need to be orchestrated to go through a certain cycle to clear an infection

one of the ways the chronic infections keep us ill - is by interrupting this cycle and keeping some of these signalling chemicals over active and some under active - thus aiding their survival

inflammatory / anti inflammatory is probably too crude a set of terms to do what's going on justice - but lowering some of these over egged responses is likely to be helpful - moving us more towards ideal / less dysregulated - rather than being immune suppressive
