While I don't have a Facebook account, I often end up viewing some Facebook pages that are public and don't require a login. But, even then, it's not a great experience.
To me, the internet in general has become rather unpleasant to navigate. Thankfully, I have a few free tools that help quite a lot by blocking/removing text- and video-based ads on news websites, blogs, YouTube, etc.
But, suppressing ads only helps so much, when the rest of the page is full of dreck.
Aside from being littered with ads, many websites (not all, of course) are also littered with bias, hate, violence, intolerance, sensationalism, misinformation, sexual themes, adult language, and more.
Remember what FM radio and television used to be like, back in the 70s and 80s? Now, compare those to TV and radio today. That's how I see Web 1.0* vs. the current Web 2.0. There used to be some boundaries on what was broadcast and printed. These days, it seems everything is fair game.
Of course, this is just my opinion. I've become the old, cranky guy, it seems. Although I wouldn't yell at kids playing on my lawn, I do wish people driving by really would turn down their music!
