If you have UTI symptoms but negative urine cultures, consider mast cell activation syndrome. MCAS can cause interstitial cystitis, urgency, pain, burning, spasms, irritation, and other bladder and urinary tract problems, especially when someone is herxing or triggering histamine responses in other ways. (And of course MCAS can cause a myriad of symptoms elsewhere in the body!) Mast cell stabilizers, a low-histamine diet, and other treatments can help enormously.

I started down that route initially - tried histamine blockers and a number of other items. Funny thing is it doesn't matter what I eat or drink - has no impact on the symptoms. Very tight muscles down there however. My pelvic floor muscles are very tight so I have been stretching daily and going to PT to address. Some improvement thus far, but could be related to my other muscular issues stemming from lymes and company...

my old doctor made me swallow antihistaminics, probiotics, etc nothing really helped that much.
the only thing that partially healed my gut a little bit was:
- healing earth
- bactilus subtilis
- MYRRH, coffe coal and camomille (there is a product in germany called myrrhinil-intest it was very good to me)

I met with my LLMD today and am making some changes. One, I am starting LDN 1.5mg in the morning as opposed to evenings. Will see how that goes...
Also, we will begin the weaning process from antibiotics in about
a week - one week off, three weeks back on, then two off, two on, ect. I am nervous to say the least but she does want a barometer as to where we are at and does believe based upon history and symptoms score that it is time. Here we go I guess....
Thanks for the opportunity to sound off on this forum - invaluable.

Well I am on day 2 of LDN 1.5mg. Day one had headaches and eye pressure. Day two much better, a little sore but not bad at all. I am taking it in the morning after all my antibiotics and it didn't affect sleep at all last night. I am more hoping it will kick up the immune system that has been compromised for so long, but if it helps the minor aches and pains that would be great too. Be nice to get off the Meloxicam.
Throughout this journey I've had a family to support and have worked the entire way through - even when I couldn't get out of bed. I used to be an engineer - now I just babysit them. Thank god for the ability to work from home and a company that understands the struggles. Whatever doesn't kill you makes you stronger?
