I have experienced this with laryngopharyngeal reflux. Ideas for fixing this could include everything good for reflux in general: D-limonene, elevating the head of your bed, staying upright after eating, not drinking liquids with meals, not eating or drinking within a few hours of bed time, licorice (DGL), slippery elm, avoiding dietary triggers, etc.
I also had a condition not too long ago with similar symptoms called cricopharyngeal spasm. Freaked me out for a long time until I figured it out!
These symptoms also can happen from regular old anxiety and stress.
