Buhner later wrote that while he originally thought andrographis held promise due to its historical use for syphilis - he and his partners clinical experience with patients didn't bear that out.
i found it useful for CNS inflammation and for stimulating the liver to produce bile - which helped me when the illness was at its worst
later scientific studies of natural compounds with activity against borrelia by people like Zhang at Johns Hopkins found various essential oils and high alcohol extracts of herbs to be effective against borrelia when tested on cultures in the lab
unfortunately this doesn't necessarily translate into clinical benefit when taken orally by humans - for a variety of reasons - but its a decent place to start
from memory
essential oils of oregano, clove and cinnamon were highly active
and
certain specific alcoholic extracts of knotweed, chinese sckullcap, cryptolepis and several others were also found to be active - generally in higher alcohol % than typically used in herbal tinctures
will try to find the papers and post a links below
the one evaluating herbs is here
https://www.frontiersin.org/articles/10.3389/fmed.2020.00006/fullnote he found some work well for growing bacteria - but not stationary phase colonies - and others the reverse
so it makes sense to use multiple herbs in combination - as is traditionally the case in traditional herbal medicine systems - rather than rely on a single herb as a spirochaetal
a search on Ying Zhang and borrelia will bring up similar papers for essential oils
