I just edited this a couple times since I cant type today lol**
Savedbygrace12: " I take 90mg of NP Thyroid first thing in the morning. For this test I took it 2 hours before the test as that's what she wanted me to do. "
****These results look hyper, BUT are only temporary due to the short elevated life of T3. Taking any T3 (NP has that since its pig thyroid) before a thyroid test will give you high T3 and then that will create a hyper looking low TSH #.****
The unfortunate part of taking any pig thyroid is it will have a higher T3 to T4 ratio than human thyroid. What that means is many will have a few hours of slightly being hyper because the T3 highest point is short lived. T4 levels no matter from human, pig or synthetic will be a more consistent level the whole day.
The short lived T3 hormone has more influence on the TSH signal hormone than long life T4 hormone does.
If you repeated this whole thyroid panel every hour throughout the day, you T3 and TSH would in crease soon after taking any t3 thyroid hormone and slowly get less hyper throughout the day until your next dose. T4 will relatively remain the same with very little movement. That what ANY t3 in medication form will do.
Most people on any t3 do not take their med on the morning of the test. Because it will usually read as temporarily hyper on the test.
***>>>Next time take your test in the AM BEFORE your thyroid med and notice the difference in test results. Your T4 will remain the same, but your T3 will be lower and TSH a little higher (better, not a hyper looking)). With high T3 test results it never hurts to also do a reverse T3 test (RT3). When your body is in stress mode (or sick with lyme) it might not use T3 and it will just float around in your blood adding up over time. Ive had this happen. ****<<<
If you actually feel a little hyper, then split your dose into 2x a day. Morning and later morning and/or afternoon.Since NP is not a capsule, its easy to split with a pill splitter. This is also how fine dose adjustments are made (since its only is available in a few sizes).
To take a second dose in the day after you snacked or had a meal an hour or more ago:, rinse out your mouth or brush your teeth and take the Pig thyroid sublingually in the cheek of your mouth or under the tongue. T3 is not absorbed by digestive protein (good), but T4 is (bad). You can ONLY successfully do this with pig thyroid.
Many Drs are unaware of these thyroid details.
(It is near impossible to duplicate a humans natural thyroid hormone blood levels throughout the day taking replacement hormone medicine. We can only experiment with what works best by symptoms in combination with understanding the lab test values.)
