Hi, everybody ~
I'm really excited to say that in the last week I've been able to dramatically reduce my daily need for triptans!!! I know that part of the picture is the fact that I haven't had a period since May (yay menopause!!), but the most dramatic change has happened since I started taking 50 mg of 5-HTP (precursor to seretonin in the body) THREE times a day. Since summer I've been very slowly working my way up to that dose (started with 1/2 a capsule :), and since I reached it on Nov. 25, I've only needed Zomig (zolmitriptan) TWICE! (Took it instead of the 5-HTP dose for that time.) The other days I've been able to keep things under control with just coffee and sometimes Advil Liqui-Gel (400 mg). This scenario has not happened for YEARS!!
Before I get too ecstatic about this, though, I'd like to hear from anyone with experience (or solid info) about using 5-HTP and any cautions or side-effects. I've seen on some brands of 5-HTP the words "No Peak-X" -- anyone know what that means???
I so much hope I can continue getting these amazing results!!!
