just diagnosed

hi all

im new 2 this forum,i went 2 see a neurologist because i have cerebeller ataxia anyway i told him i have been suffering with headaches and dizziness 4 years and also i told him that i cant wear perfume and about bright lights triggers them off anyway he did some blood tests and i went 4 the results last week and it came back positive that i do have migraine so he prescribed me

acetazolamide so ive now been taking them for 5 days and they dont seem 2 be working yet,i was wondering if anyone else are taking theses tabs,i also have underactive thyroid and suffer from depression,sorry 4 rambling on,thanks 4 reading this post.

Hi Lynne, I'm not a Dr., but honestly, I've never heard of lab tests that can diagnose migraines, so that surprises me a little. The medication you're taking, acetazolamide, is used for a variety of disorders, but its used for glaucoma, seizures, altitude sickness and some other things...don't freak on this this, many seizure meds are used for migraines, but this is not one that I've familiar with at all. Some quick research on this found that this med is used for your cerebellar ataxia and it may be this that's causing the migraine symptoms.
