Intense lower left of head pain with back muscle aching...need thoughts on what this may be.

Almost 2 weeks ago, when sitting at my computer at work, I started getting an intense pain in the lower back of my head on the left hand side which seemed to intensify when I stared at the computer.  I also noticed what appeared to be tightness and soreness in a muscle about 6 inches below my neck on my back left of my spinal cord.  I assumed I just tweaked or pinched a muscle and as a result have not yet gone to the doctor assuming all the pain would just go away with time.  But it's now been 2 weeks and the muscle pain and intense headaches continue and neither has subsided in the least.  Any idea what this could be?  I'm 44 and in relatively good health but defintely had a very stressful time the last 2 weeks with quarter end at work.

What hand do you mouse with? Try switching and see if that helps. It'll take a little while to get your mouse to work well, but the muscle tension associated with mouse work (really -- there is such a thing!) might dissipate. Good luck.

Hi, I am a concerned girlfriend.  My boyfriend has been experiencing these problems for the last past month. He started getting pressure in the back of his head and down his neck, but the doctor's can't find anything wrong from his symptoms.  He stares off and is also lightheaded.  We have our concerns about tumors or cancer.  We haven't gotten any head x-rays, etc. because he has no insurance.  The doctor gave him an antibiotic but is not sure if it will work.  I think the stress from having this so long has made it worse sometimes.  If things do not get better in the next 4 days, the doctor told him to go to the E.R., which we will but will cost us a fortune.
