hello can any one tell me wot migraines im suffering from?

I get classic pounding on one side , but not very often. Over the last year i have been experiencing a burning pain in my face , cheek, temple scalp and down the right side of my nose (always the right side of face)Along with this i get dizzy spells , vertigo attacks and very blurred vision.

Ive has vestibular testing and an mri and all are fine , the nurologist has put me on amitryptaline 10mg and i have to see him again in nov to see if its worked.

he just says hes not sure and it could be a typicel migraines , can you help me at all?????

It does not really sound like a migraine to me, they normally involve both sides. Have you had your ears checked, that may be the cause of the vertigo. Or it could be severe pressure from the TMJ joint, that is in the jaw very near the ear. I have had that issue for a year or so, and it gives me vertigo and earaches too.

I am not sure if a chiropractor is in order, or if the dentist is more the one to see----but some ideas for you to investigate. Mine is intermittent with how severe the pain is, and the vertigo is under control now. Funny thing is mine is all on the right side too!!!

I know that migraine is a kind of pain which comes only in one side because one of my cousin have it. But the symptoms which you are telling doesn't sound like it. It must be something connected to neurology. So consult more than two neurologists and get opinions then you can come to conclusion what it is and take care of it. GOod luck!

HI , yes i have had a full hearing test and ear and balance check with a consultant but all is well , and the MRI showed nothing either . The blurered vision and dizzyness are the major worry so i had my eyes tested too and they are ok too.

You might Google Optical Migraines, or ask your doctor. My aunt has them and I don't know much about hers except they greatly affect her vision, and there's usually no pain. It might be worth comparing your symptoms.

One person replied that migranes are on both sides of the head, but they are mis-informed. Migraines are almost always concentrated on one side of the head. For me, it's over my right eye. I have suffered from migraines since I was a child. Now I do have them under control, but I AM ALSO DIZZY a lot. I've never had a burning sensation in the way you have, but I do have pain and pressure and tingling on the right side of my nose. What I've found for myself and many of my migraine friends is that a sinus headache can trigger a migraine. (No doctor has ever told me this.) I don't know if what you're feeling is related to sinuses, but if you think it is, try taking a pain killer with caffine like Excedrin ALONG WITH Sudafed. It won't take away your migraine if it's really bad, but it can help if you catch it soon enogh.

What I take to control my migraines is Zomig (NOTHING else works for me or my sister...take it as soon as you know you're getting a migraine). I've been on Topomax as a preventative but it didn't really work that well. I've also had an MRI for migraines plus dizziness and it too was fine. I think my dizziness has a lot to do with repressed feelings and not dealing properly with stress. I also lose my balance a lot.

Please don't give up. :)
