migraines caused by scent

I have migraines all the time from chemicals or smells. I also have allergie probelms which is why I think smells give me migraines. It is hard when smells are all around you. I do understand. In the classroom I teach there is a "no scents" sign my nurse in the school made for me, but people still forget sometime. Excedrin migraine though can cause what is called rebound migraines because of ingredients in it. Talk to your doctor he might can prescribe you somethin. I am still looking. good luck

I have had migraines for 18 years now and also have problems with perfumes/scents causing them. My mother also has the same problem and she had a co-worker that found it rather amusing-some people are just insensitive! My mother had to eventually go to her H.R. Department at work and they made a policy that no one could wear perfume in her office. She still had some problems with that particular person but in the end the lady decided her job was more important than her choice of perfume. If that's not an option you may want to try an antihistamine, sometimes just blocking the allergic reaction can ward off the migraine. Good luck!

Hi Poohbear97, It could be either one. I get Migraines from flowers also, especially Lilly's for some reason, but some antihistamines can also cause HA. I take allegra and it works great for me but sometimes I take a children's dose of benadryl to help with sleep and I've noticed it controls my allergies and helps with my HA also. Just remember you can't take 2 different antihistamines within 24 hours of each other. Take care.
