A double migraine-this is new for me!

I have been diagnosed with several different kinds of migraines, including chronic daily, cluster features, supra orbital and what is being called "gastro-intestinal cephalgia. It's been a long and rocky road, but little by little we're getting resolution sometimes partial, sometimes total; but today I had something happen that I have never experienced before.

At MHNI we classify our headaches from 0 to 5; a 5 puts me in the emergency room. This morning I woke up with a strong level 3, went to work and the headache was getting steadily stronger. I was trying to get something done to meet a deadline and hadn't treated the headache when I noticed the tell tale signs of an aura starting. My vision started to blur and when I closed my eyes I could see the aura, which grew rapidly.

Even though I treated the headache and aura when I saw this, a second headache began; I could actually feel a second a different type of pain in a different location it was stronger than the first, a level 4, all while the original headache was still going on. I have never experienced this before, and I haven't heard of it either. Eventually the neurontin took hold and it broke the severe pain.

Has anyone ever experienced this before? I'd like to know what others think about this too.

I too have several different types of migraine, including occular and cluster. Also, sinus, stress and muscular headaches.

Last week I had anesthesia with a procedure. That evening I had a horrible migraine. Before I could get it under control (several hours), a migraine on the other side hit me. It was different than anything I've ever experienced. Much more intense. I'm hoping it was just caused by the letdown stress and the anesthesia, and a one-time thing.

The key is always getting myself fully medicated and then going to sleep. But it's not always so easy to crawl out of bed to medicate myself. Sounds dumb, but just thinking about the pain of moving is definitely a deterrant. I wish I could just place all the meds by my bed, but our house is tiny.
