Head Numbness, Pressure, and Dizziness

Earlier this week I noticed a numb spot on the top back part of my head. Around a half dollar sized spot is completely numb and most of the area around it has decreased sensitivity. A day after I noticed the numbness I started experiencing pressure/tightness and dizziness to the point that I feel like I will be sick or pass out. These feelings significantly increase when I sit up and focusing on anything while sitting has become almost impossible. I also have been getting headaches that feel like sinus headaches, but I have no other symptoms of sinus problems. I've taken Tylenol sinus and regular Tylenol, but they have not helped. The muscles in my head and face also have been periodically tensing up. If I put any pressure on the numb area on my head, the feelings of dizziness and pressure increase significantly.

about six months ago, I noticed a numb area on my back along my spine. I have also had decreased sensitivity up my back and along my shoulders and neck. I saw three doctors and none were able to explain the numbness in my back. I have been to see two doctors at my college's health center this week about the problems with my head, but they had no answers. I am currently trying to get an appointment with a neurologist. I've been searching the web about head numbness, but I haven't found anything that seems to fit. I was just wondering if anyone has had a similar problem or has an idea about what could cause these problems.

A neurologist will be your best for answers. SOmething in the mean time you can try is a deep tissue massage with a qualified person. You can find them normally at a chiropractors office. I was in a car accident in the summer last year, had numbness and tingling in my arm. We found out my muscles were so inflamed that it was pressing against the nerves. The massage hurts a lot, but it helps a lot. It took me two visits then my numbness and tingling was gone.

I have been having something similiar it's posted in another thread it does feel like my neck is tight and i'm think it might be a pinched nerve. Definetly get checked and maybe try a hot bath and see if that helps.

You guys should look into the possibility of a cerbral spinal fluid leak. HAVE SIMILAR SYPTOMS, DOES THE PRESSURE AND MUSCLE TIGHTNESS DECREASE WHEN YOU LAY DOWN. i SLEEP FINE BUT AS SOON AS i GET UP SYMPTOMS CONTINUE. i HAVE HAD IT CONSTANTLY FOR 4 MONTHS STRAIGHT! aSK YOUR NEUROLOGIST about csf LEAKS. They usually heal by themselves but if you want you can get a blood patch which should provide immideate relief.

My sister mentioned that is sounded like a spinal fluid leak, but I didn't really think much about it, but it certainly sounds like that could be what's wrong. I went to the neurologist yesterday, and he seemed to completely write off my complaints about dizziness/pressure. He's having me get an MRI to rule out MS and he said if the MRI is clear, then I shouldn't worry about the problem. I asked what I could do to ease the pressure and dizziness and he suggested maybe I could get my eyes checked and said that it probably isn't really an issue. I don't want doctors to think I'm looking for a problem, but I think I may have to get a second opinion, just to be sure.

I experienced the same thing with doctors. Took me 2 neuros, ENT, 3 ER doctors, cardiologist. Toward the end I felt like I was going crazy and it was all in my head. Finally got a diagnoses from a headache specuialist. If you feel li8ke something is off it prob is. Im glad to hear your getting an MRI. That should rule out most really serious stuff. Does caffeine improve your symptoms? What about lying down for like 15 min. When you get up do you notice a difference?

So what was your diagnosis. I have experienced the same thing also. It has been 2 years and still no answers. I am just going to say forget it. Numbness in neck and head. Small spot on top back of head that seems to be the epicenter. Dizziness, vertigo, tempory loss of vision. Ruled out MS. Doc finally said anxiety.
