Topamax

I didn't switch directly from Epilum (actually, Depakote, which has the same active ingredient) to Topomax (maybe a couple years between using the two), but I do remember getting more relief from Topomax. I had lots of the same cognitive/memory side effects with both, but I lost weight with Topomax compared to gaining it with depakote. Unfortunately, the effectiveness of Topomax wore off after 6 months or so. Topomax can take up to 3 months at full dosage to have full effects. Be sure your doctor has you start at a low dose and build gradually so you minimize the side effects.
