sharp and dull eye brow pain after crying

Given the specific location of the pain I would venture to guess that the pain may be coming from your supraorbital nerve, which is located behind the eyebrow (if you feel carefully along the eyebrow, near the middle you'll find a small dip that sits right on top of the nerve--this site is commonly used for acupressure and nerve blocks). Supraorbital neuralgia can play a significant role in head pain. It's possible that you pinched the nerve or something to that effect.

Bear in mind that this is just what comes to mind hearing your story. It could be something else.

Hello, I usually hang out at the Fibromyalgia forum but come here often because I also have terrible migraines. I saw this topic and had to reply - I had to leave work early today because the same thing happened to me. I heard a squeaky kind of pop and the pain over my left eybrow has aeen coming in intense waves all day. It's been hurting for about 15 hours now. I had the strangest aura while I was driving home from work. I made it home just in time to get into my dark room and huddle. Miserable!

But I've never had the popping thing before and was pleased to see that someone else did too. That is reassuring.

Hi Ben, thanks - I was kind of thinking the same thing today. It's better, but this is the second migraine I've had like that in a week, and it's so different from my regular headaches. I may have had some MSG yesterday, but I'm still going in to see my doc Monday afternoon. I have been wondering when is a migraine not just a migraine, and when should I go to the ER. This is probably one of those times...

Dry eye syndrome is caused by abnormal tear production or composition. If someone already had dry eye syndrome then crying might exacerbate the symptoms but it would not be the cause.

But you're right that it could be something... simpler (though Keratoconjunctivitis sicca certainly warrants a trip to the doctor). I only mentioned the possibility of a more serious problem in the spirit of being "better safe than sorry."
