Someone please help me get through these migraines

Hi everyone

I wanted to know if anyone has been on Propranolol ER for migraines?  I saw a new doctor

today he he wanted me to try this new med.  I have tried several medications and no luck.

I suffer from dailly migraines, some more servere then others, I have gone to the ER and all

they have done is give me pain meds and send me for a CT scan that comes back fine.

I hope someone can help me with ideas for experience from this medication.

I've been on increasing dosages of propanolol for a few months due to daily headaches. My diagnosis is different than yours (I was given a New Daily Persistent Headache dx), but I haven't found it to be of much help. When I started it, my headaches seem to improve slightly in the AM, so my doc increased the dosage. It hasn't helped since, even with the addition of Elavil to my med regimen. As you may know, propanolol is a beta-blocker, so it will slow your heart rate and may make you tired/weak. Just monitor your heart rate so it doesn't go too low (my doc said nothing below about 70 bpm).

Is this a headache doc? If not, my suggestion would be to try one since they are the experts.

The doctor I saw today was a neurologist in the past I was on other preventives but nothing made a difference. My doctor said if they get really servere to go to the ER for some kind of

IV therapy or major pain meds...............what fun..   LOL

been on it for years...............different dosages..............i have many neurological symptoms, but always had migraines, now on depakote as well

I got really bad night terrors while I was on propranalol and for a few years after i stopped taking it (took it for a year, had no effect on migraines).
