So, one Frova, one energy drink sipped gingerly during waking moments, and 9 hours lost, the head pain is all but gone. The nausea is welcome to go anytime as well, but seems to want to stick around and torture me some more.

Why are my migraines getting worse? Last week, it was so bad, I threw up for the first time with a migraine. Not that I don't always feel nauseated with them, but this was different. Today, no losing my cookies, but I spent over an hour on my bedroom floor because the pain was so bad, the idea of continuing the extra 7 feet to the bed was not an option. That is a first for me.

I would rather go through natural childbirth again than have another migraine.... I don't think I can wait until next month for my doctors appointment...

mad I have migraines also caligirl, and they are No fun!! I've had migraines for years now. I take firocet, zanaflex, phenegran, but nothing really helps me. I've tried all the triptans, Imitrex, relpax, maxalt....and they have bad side effects so I can't take them. They have yet found a drug that has helped me. I go on Feb 22nd to the neurologist, but I don't know why I go, he doesn't have anything new to give me. I have also had brain surgery for a seizure disorder, the brain surgery was a sucess! now to get rid of the migraines. hope you are doing well today.

Pain is still here today, but blessedly it is maybe a 2, while yesterday was a 10+. And the migraine hangover that makes me feel like I've been run over is gracing me with it's presence as well, but that is better than the pain that makes me wish I were comatose.

And, my 13 year old told me last night that my step son tells him that he thinks I fake my migraines to get out of cleaning. At least that explains his total lack of compassion when he found me on my bedroom floor yesterday, and why he took an hour and a half to come tell me he couldn't find an ice pack for me. So I left him a sticky note on the computer and pulled up a couple of pages on migraines and asked him to read them so that he could have a little more understanding of what I go through. That was the adult thing, right? I don't want him to know my 13 year old told me, so I figured I would go off of his lack of compassion yesterday as a reason for asking him to read up on migraines.

Yes, I am sure I would spend $550 in doctors visits and medications in the past 6 weeks because I don't feel like doing the dishes...

Had an appointment today. He gave me maxalt since frova wasn't working and processed a referral to a neurologist and ordered a brain and c-spine MRI because of my neck problems.

Good luck Caligirl.  I too am a mommy and have been dealing with thes debilitating migraines for years.  Poor kids; it's hard for them to understand.  My oldest two, 8 and 12, can just take one look at me and tell... I am on some prophylactics so they tend to dull the pain but I still have the endless migraines.  I have gone two days in a row without migraines now!! That's a first for me. I have had them everyday now for a year and a half but the pain has been dulled.  I have to function; I have three kids. Good luck with the neurologist; they are very understanding.  They deal with this all of the time and mine has tried a lot of things...  I wish you the very best.  Maxalt is all that works for me so good luck with that!!  God bless and hopefully you are just in a cycle and will come out of it...

Thanks MommyO, it is debilitating. My heart goes out to you too! I am happy you have had a couple of migraine free days too! Isn't it amazing how kids learn? And sad too that they have to work around it. Maybe they will be more compassionate adults because of watching us suffer? I only hope that something good can come out of the experience for someone!

It is hard to function. I am at the point now that migraines are my dominating thought. I'm either worrying one will start, wondering if the one I have will get worse, or recovering from one all the time. The one I have now started Monday, but didn't get really bad until this morning. But the dose of caffeine and the frova seems to have caught it in time for once. Maybe the other two times, I just didn't take it soon enough. I haven't picked up my maxalt rx yet, so the frova was all I had on hand. I a m fortunate to have an awesome neighbor and a couple of very good friends who I can rely on on the days that I absolutely cannot function, which seems to be the case with more and more of my migraines. Usually they have started to wane by the time the kids get out of school, but I can call my friends if I truly cannot drive. The one this week didn't get quite that bad, but the last two, functioning was not an option. Those are the worst. I am used to some level of pain on a daily basis, and it seems there is always a low grade migraine going on. I have had cycles before. It had been about 8 years since I had more than 6 or so per year. Now I'm getting that per month. The last cycle lasted about 4 years. IF this follows the same pattern, then I am about 10 months into it.

I told the doctor that I didn't care if he had to make me a walking pharmacy temporarily. I just want my LIFE back! I hope the neurologist will be able to help. I'm pretty desperate at this point for something. I'd settle for reducing frequency/severity if nothing else. I can function when the pain is 5 or under, but once I get past that, I'm pretty useless.
