My wife had migraines (about
5 per week) for the first 10 years of our marriage. It sucked :( She learned about
food triggers and eventually figured out hers:
dairy (milk, yogurt, icecream)
green beans
bananas
onions
citrus
tomatoes
corn and pop corn
MSG
(and not a food but strong smells -- perfume, fresh pavement, etc).
... pretty tough to find things to eat.
Avoiding all of that cut the migraines down to maybe 1 every other week.
A few years later we discovered she could have goat milk -- not very yummy, but it was something. Wierd, but whatever...
And then a friend told us something life altering. Our friend who also can't have dairly, found that she _could_ have organic dairy without any problem. Oh what a revelation! My wife is now enjoying milk, yogurt, cheese and ice cream again after going without for a long, long time!
And what is odd, we're finding she can have organic green beans, tomatoes, corn, popcorn and bananas. (We haven't tried the others on the list yet -- getting there).
I don't have any idea why organic foods don't trigger the migraines. My only guess is perhaps the pesticides?? Non-organic doesn't bother anyone else in the family.
After living with my wife and knowing how much she suffered, I really wanted to pass this on in hopes that it helps someone else. If it helps you, please post on some other forum somewhere so we can get this information out to others that are suffering.
And if this is all well-known already, then sorry for the long post :)
Doug
PS I don't know if it matters, but my wife's migraines are very often a piercing pain in one eye. Or on one side of her head. I don't remember any more what they're called, but they can be very bad.
