Botox for migraines - What doctors do for this in Dayton, OH or close to this?

I've suffered 16 years with migraines, and wanting relief so badly. I want to try botox. One neurologist wanted a Vtiamin D test, and then I find out today that they want $1600 for shots of botox. Excuse me, but,.......I know plastic surgeons don't charge that much. I can't live with these migraines. They take over my life.
Can anyone please email back with some suggestions?

I had botox for migraine's about 3 weeks ago and it cost me $0! My doctor talked to the insurance company and told them how badly he wanted me to have these and how important it was and they decided case by case what they would pay for and decided to pay for it.
I called them up myself and told them how much I really needed it and they did a nice deed.
Just express to them how you feel

I also had botox for migraines but unfortunatly I didn't get much relief from it. But I know alot of people have, we are all so different! I hope you can have it done and it helps you. Take care.

I have tried botox twice for my headaches with no relief. I do not have migraines but have continuous pain in both temples that feel like pressure. I have tried every kind of treatment possible with no relief and also tried all kinds of medications and nothing has ever helped my pain. It has been ten years now and I suffer daily, 24/7!!!

Good luck to everyone trying to find an answer to your pain.

Ouch! That is expensive! I live in Southern California and my neuro only charges $950!! I have not had to resort to that yet, since the topamax seems to be giving me some relief, but I understand being open to anything to relieve the pain! It does take over your life. That is how I felt about trying the topamax, since I read so many scary things about it. It was still worth it to me to try it in hopes of getting some semblance of a life back, and so far it is working. Compared to the intense pain, the side effects are nothing.

I hope you find something that will help with your pain!

So sorry you guys suffer with these terrible migraines. I have dealt with migraines for over 20 years of my life. The past 5 years have been terrible. I have daily chronic intactable migraines. I have been on numerous medications for migraines, along with vitmains, supplements....I have not tried botox yet because my insurance (BlueCross, Blue Shield) does not cover it. It cost $500.00 for the injection but not sure if that's just one injection or a series of injections at the first visit. I have heard these botox injections have to be repeated about every 3-4 moths. Who can afford that! Have any of you heard anything about the migraine surgery? I looked up some info on Dr. Pamela Blake out in Houston that does the surgery, and a doctor by the name of Dr. Bahman Guyuron he is in Cleveland Oh.

It is amazing how many people suffer from migraines or constant headaches. My husband did for years(nearly 40), he tried EVERYTHING, all medicines, chiropractor, any and every doctor, scans but no help. He did stumble on an amazing nutritional product 2 years ago, and within 3 weeks, no more headaches. It was the only headache relief he ever found. Might work for some of you also.
