Hemiplegic Migraines

  I was Just diagnosed with hemiplegic migraines in Jan. of this year and i had no idea what was happening to me i felt fatal..  when i was in the hospital they looked at me like i was crazy that i started to feel that way! Im 25 yrs. old and have three children and i get them every day sometimes three times a day and they last me an hour each. Its horrible! My neuro, has tried 4 different types of meds. and so far none have helped.. The worst part is that now its also affecting my right leg when before it was only the left side of my body... I feel so drained...

I can relate I was diagnosed in July.  Beta Blockers and Calcium Blockers make me have more episodes.  I have stopped taking all the meds.  I have been going to a massage therapist who works with MS and Cancer patients she has helped.  I am also trying a naturalist.  This may sound a little out there but I was like you getting looks like I was crazy.  I do have episodes still but not as often.  I usually only have them two days a week now.  I was having them every day multiple times a day.  The naturalist has started me on Arnica it is an old remedy from the 1500's.  I am trying to do a little yoga every day.  I have been watching my diet and keeping a diary of events to help find triggers.  I have found that stress and over activity bring the episodes on.  I also have both sides effected.  My left side is worse that is where the massages come in they help me keep the blood flowing and the muscle working.  I have yet to find a doctor who knows much about it or that has treated anyone with it.  I have had to stop working and am trying to adjust to a new way of life.  I am a christian and I have found that prayer and bible study has helped.  I am not going to let this set back take over my life  I am making changes and adjustments.  I have also found laughter helps.  I hope you can find some help soon.  Hang in there I know it is very hard especially with children to take care of.  I will keep you in my prayers.
