hi im 27 years old and as far as i can remember ive gotten migraines, lately ( the last 3 months) my head hurts in a different way all together, it starts in the back of my head right above the neck and spreads up to my temples it is an intense burning pain. it feels like there is a warm liquid or something, sometimes the pain gets so intense i cant hear or see. and for the last two months i have been having night hallucinations. its very nerve wrecking to sleep knowing that i am going to be awakening in a paralyzed frantic state. i don't know what it is and i don't know if they are related. i just wish one or the other will stop. does anyone have any idea's?

Sorry to hear about the migraines. Is it possible that your migraine "pattern" is changing? This happens with us migrainuers sometimes. And when this happens it means it's time to go back to your neurologist or migraine specialist. They may want to run some tests just to be on the safe side. They also may want to increase or change your current meds around a little bit.

Just out of curiosity, do you feel your muscles clamping up around your temples and neck? If they are, have you ever checked into Botox? ...Something to discuss with your doctor, along with your current meds.

EF...Interesting that you mentioned Botox! It's difficult to get reliable information on this as it relates to migraine pain, especially since it's not "approved".

I get a lot of tightness in my neck, at the base of my skull. Massage seems to make it worse, even pressing on it can make me nauseous if it's really tense. Is this strange?? It just doesn't seem muscular to me. I've wondered about Botox, just can't bear to think about another medical bill that my insurance won't cover!

Actually botox just received FDA approval. Now, whether your insurance covers it (at this time) is another matter. I'm unsure how the process of FDA approval ---> insurance approval works. It may be that it takes some time, as it is expensive and the insurance certainly doesn't want to bear that cost if they can help it.

Maybe a neurologists/ pain specialist / headache specialists letter of medical necessity (and possible appeal) will get them to cover it? Given that you get a lot of tightness at the back of your neck, it's worth checking into with a qualified clinician.

My understanding is that, like medications, botox helps for some and not for others. I've heard stats of well over 50% success rates by physicians who are very EXPERIENCED with giving the injections FOR Migraine. I tried it, it wasn't for me, but for others it has worked wonders.

i dont really get tightness, its more of a warm or hot feeling. i dont like to take any type of pain medications since they all leave me very foggy, even something as simple as tylenol. so i try and take vitamins and eat healthy and sleep right to keep my "headaches" at a minimum. but with the hallucinations i cant even sleep anymore. does anyone know if these could be caused from taking to many vitamins?

Possible...especially if you're using herbals. They can be just as potent as pharmaceuticals.
what all are you taking? I'll take a peek at the Natural Medicines database . Any other symptoms other than the ones you described in your first post?

I've been suffering from headaches every day for over a year and a half. I have tried just about everything to make them go away. I recently started supplementing with Magnesium (not specifically for my headaches), and a few days after taking it daily, my headaches were gone! Then there were a few days where i got lazy and didn't take the magnesium, and my headaches came back! So i took it again, and they went away! AMAZING! You have no idea how huge this discovery is for me!!! I'd highly recommend you give it a try. After getting the results that i did, i thought i'd do a little research online and found a couple websites that you might find helpful:

I wish you the best of luck, it sounds like your headaches are worse than mine have been, but its worth a try.

i am taking a hair and nails vitamin, fish oil, and vitamin c. i take them in the morning. i used to take them both in the morning and then again at night since they are also dietary supplements and i wanted my metabolism to improve, but i stopped taking them at night since they would keep me to energetic and i wouldnt be able to lie still.
