Hi guys. I've had a headache for the last 2 weeks. I made a doctor's appointment today. I was wondering if anyone could help me out with diagnosing this thing. I've done a lot of research on long headaches like this but none of the symptoms are exactly what I'm feeling. This headache is mild to moderate in pain (it isn't killing me). It feels like it hurts on the top of my head, on the back of my head and sometimes on both sides. Within a 5 minute interval, the pain can be great, and then all of a sudden feel like it isn't hurting as bad (i wouldn't say it is throbbing). It throbs if i stand up too fast, run, bend over or do any sudden physical activity. Also, sometimes I feel phlegm in the back of my throat...but no pain in my eyes and no nasal congestion. I have not had any brain damage, or been in a car wreck where i could have hurt my head. I've never fallen on it or anything like that. I was in decent health before this started 2 Tuesdays ago.

Also, one important thing is this- I wake up daily at 6:30 am to get ready for work. I feel NO pain until about 10-11 AM.

Also, I am not sensitive to sound or light.

You defeinitely need to see a doctor. With the phlegm situation, wondering if you could have a really bad sinus infection? Good luck to you and report back after you go to the doctor.

sounds alot like what I had. It started in feb. and we still have not figured it out but have been put on a ton of meds that sometimes help. I also was not in extreme pain just when I stood up or moved to fast. And every morning I would wake up thinking it is gone but after a few hours is came back. Ever day for a month then on and off after that. Go see a doctor and if it is not a sinus infection they will probably put you through a ton of tests and send you to a ton of doctors. I was just recently told by a massage therapist that I have TMJ and this could have been causing my headaches.

Thanks for the responses guys. My doctor appointment is Friday. I'll be sure to post and let you know what I figure out (if anything). Its 8:12 AM right now - no headache...yet.

Hi guys:

Well, I just returned from my doctor's appointment. Basically he said "I'm not 100% sure what could be causing this". He said it COULD be sinuses but it could also be tension headaches, or worse. I have to get set up for an MRI on Monday to get more information I guess. Does anyone know how much this could potentially cost? I have blue cross/blue shield insurance through general motors (if that helps at all).

I was perscribed some sort of sinus medication that apparently is somewhat like musinex but more powerful. I was also given a barbiturate named Epes Plus or something like that. Apparently the barbiturate will relieve me of my headaches, but it obviously won't just eliminate them all together. I'm really hoping this is not an aneurysm or a tumor. This is starting to get scary when the doctor says "I don't know exactly what it is" and then sets me up for an MRI. I hope you guys understand that this is making me very worried. My fiance has been listening to me complain about the pain for over 2 weeks now, so she's about had it with my venting.

I'll keep you guys updated. Thanks for everyone's help and input.

I wouldn't worry.  If the doctor was really worried he would have rushed the MRI. 

 I first went to my doctor after only 2 days of the headache because I couldn't handle it.  She told me to wait until the end of the week and call back.  She really thought it was going to go away.  When it didn't I called her on a friday and when she got my message she called me back and told me to go to the ER for a CT scan. 

Doctors these day wouldn't put anything off if they have any concern at all.  There is to much concern for lawsuits.  So if the doctor hasn't rushed the MRI order then don't worry.  You are now in the hands of your doctor. 

And believe me that weekend was hell for me.  I got the CT results immmediatly from the hospital and they sent home but not before mentioning some other things that could be wrong.  But my doctor was on call that weekend and I think I called more then once because It started to get worst.  I believe it got worst from the stress of worrying.  So don't worry and relax.

MRI's generally cost around $1,200.00-$1,300.00. You have good insurance, so it should cover most. Just don't worry about and get well. I am of the opinion that if I don't have, it I'll make payments on it. They'll wait. Your health is more important as well as peace of mind. Let us know how it goes.

I will. Thanks for all the help again guys. My MRI is Thursday morning. The good news is that I took the pills all weekend long, and decided to take today off of those drugs and see how I'm feeling on a clear head. I haven't had a headache all day long!!!! I'm happy I decided not to take the pain medication today. Those things make me feel weird.

Cameron! I am on day 14 of the exact same problem. My symptoms match yours 100%!! What is it? My doctors appointment isn't till next Friday and I am FREAKING OUT about this.

I also have the same symptoms.
I have noticed on one side of my head a pain in my temple for a while now and never throught anything of it.
Now I have had a mild headache for x2 weeks..
Got a doctours appointment in 2 days so see what they think about it!
Let me know how you all get on, like you i'm very worried.

I see this thread is old but the last post is from 2011.. I am having the same thing Iornhide.. I was hoping you were still around and that you could let me know if you are feeling better now and what happened etc? plssss thank u

I hate to say it but I am in less of a panic after reading all of the posts in this thread and finding it is not just me. Same symptoms as everyone else, two weeks now, some days I wake up and seem to be fine, within a hour or so the headache is back, varying degrees from mild to sever, always gets worse when I stand and walk about. On and off I am sensitive to light and loud noises,and for the most part I have no appetite. My head feels congested. I made a doctor's appointment but couldn't get in for 2 more weeks. So I'll be interested in heariing what those of you find out who have sooner appointments.

I have the same issues...it all started with a major migraine...i was seeing spots, felt sick to my stomach....took some excedrine...it helped ease the pain.
Next day...headache came back...seeing spots again (kinda like when you glance directly into the sun and look away at something)
Kept taking excedrine...helped a bit...migraine pain lessening but persisting throughout the week. 2nd week, it turns more to a throbbing headache...but comes and goes within 5-10 minutes then comes back for a bit etc... it hurts when i get up or sit down too quick (throbs/pulses)
Been taking excedrine for 2 weeks now...still seeing the occasional spots...hard to read......im going to see doc today... pretty nervous here...

I know the thread is old, but I am wondering if anyone got any answers? I have had a headache for just over a week. Like other posters here, it hurts more when I stand up too fast, walk, bend, etc. I have seen my family doctor, but he was convinced it was just a ear & throat infection causing the headaches. I'm not so sure. I am really starting to worry. I have never had a headache this long, & panic is starting to set in - which I guess isn't helping any. Going to make an appointment in the morning to see a doctor, & hopefully get some sort of testing done.
