Well I have had Botox Injections, allergic to all triptants, tried all preventatives, erogants and you name it, and I have tried it. I have had a migraine everyday since December 9, 2009. No crap! I have been in and out of the hospitals and Dr.'s offices. I have been turned down for disability twice. Now tell me whats wrong with this picture........you can get disability for being fat and on drugs? Any input?

migraines suck. i too have same problem. i don't know your meds i can tell you somewhat that helped me. I had a complete hysterectomy uterus and all. this may not be an option for you. when i went to mayo clinic they put me on an anti seizure drug. topomax i started at 25 mg at night worked up to 200. it seems to help.
have you had allergy testing..
i have several other issues lupus fibro RA gulf war problems and several other things. but migraines... suck.
hope some of this information is helpful... i am so sorry...deep tissue massage hurts a bit but after a long migraine i do find it beneficial. if you could i would get one at least once a week.
i am usually more in the lupus area... please let me know if you are able to find some relief.

Yes!!! Migraines do SUCK... BIG TIME!!! Two years and running... that's really rough. The good news is that you can get disability for migraine. The bad news is that they really don't like to give it. Here is a link to thread from another forum where they talk about migraine and disability:

If I could give you one piece of advice it would be to get yourself into a top notch Headache Center/Clinic (not a general neurologist), if you haven't already been to one. There are: rare types of migraines that don't respond to the traditional treatments (other meds are called for), secondary headaches that call for different treatments, neurolgias, conditions that mimic migraine (again... different types of meds are needed). A GOOD headache center will be able to help you get to the bottom of this.
Where are you located? Maybe someone can recommend a good clinic.
Hang in there!

Since November of 2010 I have had a Migraine/ Head Pain in the center of my head. I am not sure what to do. I first went to an ophthalmologist thinking it was my vision...nope 20/20 vision. Next I went to a general doctor and she put me on anti-depressants and scheduled me for a CT. What was even more disturbing is that they found nothing wrong on my CT and so now I have to take medication. I am a mother of three children. I am a full time student about to finish my Bachelors in Business Admin as well as a full time employee. I now find my self struggling to make it through each minute of every day. I can't not seem to function. All I want to do is sleep because when I sleep I do not hurt. I feel as if my life has stopped and I also feel as if I have no hope. They have put me on Topamax and I can not tell if the side effects are worse than the migraines. My poor children and my poor husband have been so good about all of this what can I do for them?
Any recommendations?

Hi Melinda,
I would make an appointment with two doctors: a neurologist and a headache specialist (i.e. specialized neurologist). You can probably get in with a neuro pretty quickly. Headache specialists generally have a 3-6 month wait list.
Work with the neuro. If they can't resolve the issue by the time your specialist appointment comes around, then go to that appointment. One way or the other you will get this resolved.
Topiramate can be a not-so-fun drug. Most people either hate it or love it. There are very few who sit in the middle. Has it helped your pain at all and if so by how much? What else have you tried?
Best of luck!

I will say topomax was a ***** getting in my system one of the hardest meds for me... and like you i tried everything. honestly the uterus pull and ovaries i think did the most. you asked what you can do for your family.. my husband told me something tonight... he said stop feeling guilty about being sick. So you cant do the same things, just do what you can. I've been carrying that guilt since my first daughter was born. she is 19. It started with the migraines on occasion but after being in the persian gulf war my health spiraled out of control.
let your family love you and you love them right back ...even if you are puking, feeling like crap, if you need to be in a dark room with an ice pack and your kids want to quietly lay with you... its not the dream making memory but to them its time with mom. my kids saw me throw up so much i could read dr suess and throw up while reading and i would try to skip a page because i was in a world of hurt and they would be like... you missed a page... they didn't care that i just got ill. gross i know, but my kids are 19-18- and 16 and still talk about how i would read to them. (bad days books i had memorized) what meds are you on? and what have you tried? do you know birth control pills can cause migraines? give us your list and maybe we can find something different. also your allergies.
I am really feeling for you. have you had allergy testing done. what tests have been done i saw ct.. do you take the topomax at night that stuff made me sooo tired.
Maybe it isn't just a migraine, maybe it is a combination headache.
i am no Dr. May you find some thing that lets you rest so you can fight that turkey. you may need to shut down for three days. go to bed icepack dark room, day two massage and sleep ice pack dark room day three, same. i like quiet music to distract mefrom home noise so i don't feel like i need to get up and get stuff done.
you sound over the top exhausted. hugs

HELP... I have not had this many migraines since i had a hysterectomy in 2007, what is going on with my head. seems to start above the right eye. I am holding a lot of tension in rt shoulder and neck from lupus pain but i have had that before. I have tons of issues and i can most of the time handle them but topping it all off with migraines idk. ugh. i want an off switch. seriously... i guess it is time for ice, imitrex, and we will see where it goes from there. it is the kind that goes down my spine. I must be nuts because i really do not like pain.
thank u for letting me vent
