I have recently been diagnosed with Meniere's Syndrome. I woke up one day with a terrible headache, ringing, fullness in my left ear, and tingling in my left pinky and ring finger...since then I my hearing has slightly improved, my tingling went away with the help of my chiropractor....but the last two weeks I have experienced terrible headaches with aura, light sensitivity and a slight change in vision of my left eye....yesterday I woke up almost symptom free...thought it was going to be a good day, but then I spent several hours in front of my computer (finals week) and I started having a creepy, crawly feeling up the back of my head..I took some extra strength excedrin and went for a walk...when I got back I was dizzy and felt the weirdness on my right side from my face down to my toes. It seemed to lessen/disappear when I layed flat on my back...only to return if i rolled to my right/left side. I also have pain in my neck and middle back....soreness in my shoulder and hip....with all of this i had a major panic attack. Could this be migraine with out pain?

Hi Daisy,

Sorry you've had such rough time. To directly answer your question, it does not sound like migraine with aura without headache (acephalgic migraine). It sounds like there are several things going on here. It could be mixed migraines, or migraines and something else entirely. I would recommend seeing your GP as soon as you can (s/he is going to want to rule out a few things. Let him/her know you've had recent chiropractic work. It could be relevant). After finals week it would be a good idea to get an appointment with a neurologist.

This may or may not be relevant but (Vertiginous) Migraine is often misdiagnosed as Meniere's Syndrome. They can present similarly, but Meniere's has certain defining characteristics.

Let us know what happens. Some of us get sufficient care from a neurologist. More complex cases may call for a headache specialist.

I went to my GP yesterday. She drew blood, as I was looking to see my potassium (dehydration headaches?) and vit D levels....what she got back was a high white blood cell count and is treating me for sinus infection...thinking that is where the headaches are coming from. After antibiotics I will repeat blood work in 2 weeks.

I sure would like to get this figured out....I have an MRI tomorrow. Maybe that will tell more?

A high white count could mean a lot of things, but it makes sense and certainly narrows down things. I hope the antibiotics help.

A lot of times simply being sick lowers our migraine threshold (poor sleep, pro-inflammatory responses, dehydration). I hope the MRI went well and finals are coming along nicely!
