TOPAMAX AND ALCOHOL

I very rarely drink and i asked a pharmacist if i could drink on this medication and my doctor said i could as well in moderation, but what is moderation. I have an event coming up and Id like to have a couple of drinks. Have any of you on topamax done this, how has it been?

Whew... admittedly I'm on Oxycontin as well as Topamax (I use it for neuropathic pain), but I can't even have a sip of alcohol. I've never been a big drinker, but previously had a good tolerance for alcohol.

Hi,

I have been on Topamax for a long time...I am not a big drinker at all, but the few times I do go out I can tend to over do it. With that being said, yes I have and I have been fine. I take 100mg and I take it at night.

You guys are great! Thanks so much!! I just came back from the pharmacist and he told me the same thing. Just not to drink to the point of being on the floor :P and to take the topamax a few hours before. I am only on 50 mg too so I guess its not so bad. I havent had any side effects yet as well....
