Numbness for weeks following a migraine?

Had a severe bout of visual auras starting on June 6th. If I didn't have two a day, I had at least one for about 6 or 7 days in a row. In the last couple of days of that week, the left side of my body slowly went numb. Weird thing is, the night of the 11th into the 12th, it switched from the left side to the right side. This landed me in the ER for a CT scan and lumbar puncture... both of which came out normal. With a little peace of mind, I left the hospital battling a severe case of vertigo. Docs thought that was normal for the migraine. I made it through the week until I saw an ENT that Friday who popped my supposed clogged ears. No fluid came out, but the vertigo went away. I had one day free of numbness after my ears were popped, but it has made its way back to my left leg. Is this the most bizarre thing you've ever heard? Anyone deal with numbness weeks after the migraine attack?

(I have an MRI tomorrow just to rule out anything like MS, etc...)

Your experience sounds very familiar. I have had migraines for 10 years.  Last year. I got vertigo and went to the ER.  I went for all kinds of test.   It really makes the headaches worse but eventually went away. Ear infections can add to the migraines. And the numbness on one side of my head that feels the same sensations as when your foot falls asleep.  It comes and goes with my migraines.   I have tried Preventative Migraine Medication - Anticonvulsants, Calcium Channel Blockers, Antidepressants. Botox .   Painkillers & Abortives -  Muscle Relaxant, Triptans, Painkillers   My trigger is hormones.   And they say that will eventual change over time and I will have less headaches.   I am looking forward to that day...

Interesting you say hormones, as a month prior to this, i was put on Synthroid for my Hashimoto's. (Autoimmune thyroid issues) -- When all of this started, i stopped the Synthroid AND my birth control. I won't be taking birth control ever again. I'm scared to death of the possibilities of a stroke, etc.

Right now, I'm still waiting on MRI results, which i'm sure will be clear. I'm thinking the numbness that is left (which is ONLY in my leg) may be due to sciatica. It's numb in all the places the sciatic nerve runs.

As far as my ears... The pressure has been alleviated immensely, but I'm still having some ringing in the right one due to the procedure (at least i HOPE that's what it's from.. googling makes me believe i have 100 other diseases... really need to stop that)

I'm sorry you suffer from these often. :( This was my first one... Hopefully my only. Probably won't be that lucky, tho... Although, next time, I'll now it's not a stroke.. and I'll probably handle it (stress wise) better.

I have been taking Synthroid for years and it doesn’t make them better or worse. And I was surprised to learn about the problems with birth control pills and migraines. I stop taking them and that helped.   Get your ears double checked. Sometimes you have an inner ear infection that is behind the wax. They shouldn’t be red and sore several days later.   You can test for sciatic by the pressure points at the top of your leg. If it relieves the pain,   that is it. Again, a doctor visit is needed to check for you.   Take care and follow-up with your doctors.
