Constant headache for 7 months

Hi, my name is Yannick Doucet, 23 year old male living in Canada.

I seek your help and advices for I have been experiencing headaches EVERYDAY for the past 7 months. It seemed to have started with a bad cold or sinusitis at the beginning of February.
The pain level can go from 2-3, (usual daily headache), to about 6-7 where it’s close to a migraine and I can’t concentrate or do anything.

- I have had a MRI in 2009, due to a swimming accident where I hit my head on the side of the pool, but nothing showed up.
- I have had a CT in April 2011 and nothing showed up either.
- I’ve seen a Sinus (ORL Specialist) and said that my headaches didn’t come from a sinus infection. I was prescribed various Antibiotics for sinus infection and didn’t seem to help either.
- I’ve seen a Neurologist and she prescribe me Elavils, which I took for a month and then stopped because it didn’t help the headaches, only made me sleepy all day and even more depressed.
- I’ve tried chiropractic (for months with 2 different chiropractors)
- I’ve also tried Acupuncture, physiotherapy, osteopathy and nothing seemed to help.

Nothing seems to directly trigger my headaches so please take a look at my symptoms that I’ve summed up over the past 7 months since February. I am fed up, sick and tired of this, I shouldn’t live like this at 23 years old. I used to exercise a lot and be active but can’t anymore. So please..

Symptoms :

Headache everyday 7 months - No relief (No completely headache free days)
Forehead headache sometimes, pain when touching forehead.
Headache can vary from the back, lower back, sides, temple, and back of the neck.
I sometimes wake up from sleep when headache is too strong.
Dizziness when getting up after lying down. Also, wind sensation in my head. (Dizziness, heaviness)
Swollen Lymph Nodes (Armpits), it happened 7 to 8 times during the 7 months
Stiffneck every 1-2 days.
Fatigue!!!
Running eye sometimes
Back pain (lower back), could be due to my work in the past.
Sometimes I get depressed when headache is too strong.
The headaches causes extra stress and I’ve had about 4-5 sleepless nights in the last 6 months.
Loss of appetite sometimes when headache is too strong
Sometimes headache is worse when bending down. (Pressure is worse)

Advils, Tylenols, Motrin does not seem to help at all.

Please, any help or person with same symptoms is more than welcome.

Today i just came across with this forum,and i am completely stunned by how many people have the exact same symptoms for long period of times like i used to have.( Btw mine lasted for more than 2 years).Brother check out my post in the thread " Every single day headache...(currently on valproic acid)" which i believe my post is on page 3 at the bottom.
I recommend to the other guy to give a try to trigger point therapy which is a soft tissue technique. Please man go to the other thread and check it out.It really saved my life!!!

Thanks for the advice! I just did blood tests today.

Looks like I didnt have lymph nodes under my armpits, but Cysts.. oh welll

I did a couple of new tests today, for the thyroid gland and Mononucleosis.
And alot more tests are in the waiting..
Any other advices are MORE than welcome!

Brother i am afraid all the tests that the doctors have appointed for you will come out perfect and you are just wasting your money and time. My man there is nothing wrong with your body... You got to understand that your head and neck muscles are screaming for your attention! They are just a mess.. Start rubbing and squeezing your neck muscles in the back of your head. Are they sore at all? Are there any tender points if you press enough?
Do the same with the suboccipital muscles in the back of your head, witch are located right above the back of your neck. Explore for any tender points. Feel with your fingers if there is any uneven surface caused by knots on those muscles.
Also squeeze the sternocleidomastoid muscles in the front of your neck. This muscle wraps around the neck and could be seen as part of either the side of your neck.If they're tight stiff and painful when squeezing them then they're certain to be involved in your headaches.
Last but not least, squeeze and pinch the upper trapezius muscles which are located on top of your shoulders. All these muscles that i just described are well related with your headaches. You have exhausted them by overworking them physically(bad posture, head accidents, etc.) and emotionally(anxiety, depression, etc).Now they are so contracted that there is no sufficient blood flow to your brain.
Brother i recommend you to get one of the books that i suggest in the other thread.
They explain in step by step detail how you can treat trigger points, that are buried in your muscles and refer pain to your head , with effective massage techniques.
Trust me man, if you massage those muscles the way these books describe, your headaches will go away in no time. I am headache free for more than a month thanks to trigger point therapy.
Finally, if you don't have the patience or willingness to treat your muscles by yourself, seek for a chiropractor or massage therapist who specialize in trigger point therapy.

I have to admit.. it looks a little bit like youre promoting the stuff like youre the owner!! lol..

But **** it im gonna try it..

Im tired of all the tests, the needles, and all the other physical problems that the headaches come with.. because of stress and depression.

Im buying it and Ill be sure to give you resulsts as soon as I get any.

Are you the author of the "suggested books" or do you perhaps work for the publishing company?

In other words, it looks suspicious.  Virtually all of your posts here so far contain suggestions of reading two specific books.

Believe whatever you want man. Bottom line is that if you suffer from chronic headaches trigger point therapy is the way to go, simple as that.
If you decided to ignore this therapy then it's your choice, but I am afraid that your headaches will not go anywhere anytime soon...

Well, Ive seen another ORL, and im gojng to my 2nd rendez vous to the neurologist next week... Nothing helped.. headaches went from sevre to mild-poor  to almost gone for about 2 weeks about a month ago (during the 9 months of constant headaches)and i thought everything was gone. Now theyre back  and EVERY hour of the day I can feel them.. like maybe 2-3 nours per day that I dont, or when I sleep and when it doesnt wake me..

So, im getting more and more depressed.. I dont know if its a depression causing the headaches or if its them causing the depression.. but definitly, if you have a headachre 24h a day, and you stop working, exercising, almost seeing your friends... you will get depressed and thats what is happening to me..

Anyone got any news?

So sorry I have missed this up to now!!! Has your Neuro tried Indomethacin???? Certainly worth talking to him about it!!! Can you identify with any of the following?????

'Hemicrania continua is a chronic form of headache marked by continuous pain that varies in severity and always occurs on the same side of the face and head. Superimposed on the continuous but fluctuating pain are occasional attacks of more severe pain. The headache may last from minutes to days. Symptoms fall into two main categories: autonomic, including runny nose, tearing, eye redness, eye discomfort, sweating, and swollen and drooping eyelids; and migraine-like, including nausea, vomiting, and sensitivity to light and sound. The disorder has two forms: chronic, with daily headaches, and remitting, where headaches may occur for a period as long as 6 months and are followed by a pain-free period of weeks to months until they recur. Most patients experience attacks of increased pain three to five times per 24-hour cycle. This disorder is more common in women than in men. Physical exertion and alcohol use may increase the severity of headache pain in some patients. The cause of this disorder is unknown'

Whether you identify with this or not it is important that you see a Neurologist who is a Headache Specialist. The general Neuros do not know as much about headache as they think they do lol!!!

Headaches for 6 months, constant Please Help!!!!!!!

Hello,

Im a 25 year old male, on 02/03/2016; while I was at work I got this really bad headache out of nowhere, It was very intense probably 9/10 (Pain scale). Ever since for the past 5 months it has not fully gone away. Every morning it starts off very dull and thought out the day is varies on intensity, some days are worse than other and sometimes it remains very tolerable.

My first visit to my doctor was for a regular physical and some blood test, everything was good; the only thing was that my liver enzymes were a little elevated, but overall there was nothing alarming. The Doctor gave me ibuprofen to alleviate the pain, after taking them for 4 days I stopped since it was no working.

I took a CT SCAN w/o contrast to the brain, again nothing irregular, for most part of April, I went to two different chiropractors thinking it was my neck/back that was pinching a nerve causing pain to the head, they even worked on my jaw muscles to see if anything was wrong in that area. After the month of April was over I figured I had to find another explanation because nothing seen to make it better.

I went to the dentist and they recommended me to use a mouth guard since there were sings of teeth grinding and jaw clinching, to this day I use them every night but that seems to not be the cause. Also went to get my eyes checked, but everything was good, although I was told that my eyes were very dry, so they prescribed FLUOROMETHOLONE 0.1% drops to take care of that, again; no signs that it caused the pain. I took them for two weeks and then moved on.

Went back to my doctor, had another blood test, only to have the same results. I went on to take an MRI w/o contrast to the brain, and a few weeks later went to a Neurologist 06/01/2016. The MRI showed some “abnormalities of the posterior right periventricular white matter, representing a small area of “encephalomalacia/gliosis. The sequel of periventricular leukomalacia would be one possible etiology.” Based on that he prescribed AMITRIPTYLINE HCL- 10 MG TABLET, and FLURBIPROFEN- 50MG, those were for muscle/mood relaxing, and inflammatory pain reliever. He also recommended for me to see an Ear, Nose and Throat doctor to see if the pain was caused by a possible sinusitis problem. As told; I went there, he he checked my mouth and inside my nostrils. There were no sign of any sinusitis and I was back to square one.

Its been 5 moths now and I cant find any clue as to what can be causing this tension headaches. The pain varies as far as the location (sometimes is on top, side, back of the head). As far as the intensity of the pain, it is very random (some days are very intense and other are very mild/dull).

I have to admit it has been getting better, but the pain is still continuous and still seem to affect my life. If anyone has some information/suggestions please help me, I don’t wish this to anyone 07/01/2016.

On 07/07/2016 I have and appointment with my Neurologist again for a month check-up.

I'm 24 and have had nearly constant headaches of varying intensities since I was 17. I'm glad I found this forum, and am also sorry I don't have much advice to give. I'm currently trying to figure out what the heck is going on with my headaches. I am seeing a neurologist and also a chiropractor. I have made visits to an ENT and eye doctor to rule out sinus headaches, allergies, and vision problems as the cause. I had an mri which came back normal. My blood test was also mostly normal, with a very slight elevated white blood cell count. In the past I have tried many things: advil, aleve, tylenol, topamax, amitriptyline, though nothing seems to really help. When I have an adjustment at the chiropractor, my headache/neckache and the pressure subsides, but for less than an hour. Regular exercise seems to help the headaches overall, but I have yet to find a good solution to the pain. I am currently taking verapamil (a blood pressure medication) that can sometimes help with migraines. I've been on it for a week, so far without effect. Any advice is welcome.

To everyone out there also suffering, hang in there, I know it's awful sometimes.
