For the past several months, about once a week, I've had horrible headaches at the base of my skull. They seem to radiate forward to my ears, which I then get a ringing in. It's not a stabbing or pulsating pain, more of an intense dull ache. Movement does not affect them at all, I have full range of motion and no matter how I position my head the pain is not made worse, or better for that matter. I've had tension headaches or migraines my whole life but always focused behind one eye, and involving a sensitivity to light. I've taken every pain killer I can think of (not all at one time of course) to try to relieve the pain but nothing helps. It doesn't feel like a common "crick" in my neck, which I've experienced before and no amount of massaging helps to relieve the pain, nor does a hot or cold compress. Because of the pain, I've been unable to sleep when one of these "headaches" comes on, because again, there is no position to lay down which relieves it. I've noticed I'm a bit more "foggy" in my thinking, but that could be due to the lack of sleep.
Has anybody ever experienced this? Any tips or ideas?
