Hello all, I'm new and I'm hoping that some of the more experienced among you could offer some advice. I have been suffering from migraines for about a year and a half but they have gotten much worse in the past six months (five a week). I went to a headache specialist who detoxed me (i was addicted to ibuprofen and the migraine meds that other docstors had put me on, too many times per week) and then put me on a regimen of amitryptilen, B2, and then a cocktail of Cafergot, Aleve, and Metoclopromide when I get a headache, but i can't take it more than twice a week.
When I was still getting headaches four times a week my doctor added Topamax to my daily regimen which I tolerate very well and worked well for a while, the headaches went down to two per week, but now I am graduating from undergraduate school, getting married in a year, trying to buy a house with my fiance, he is looking for a job, I am about to start law school, about to move, and about to take out $100,000 in loans and the stress level has gotten my headaches to an all time high. I have gone back up to four to five headaches a week and it's driving me nuts. I can only take the cafergot, aleve cocktail twice a week to keep from being addicted and the preventatives obiviously aren't working. I'm going to call my doctor again tomorrow but I was wondering if anyone here had any thoughts. I can't go through law school with these headaches, they will be debilitating. They don't completely shut me down, I can still function just at a lower level.
They are in the front of my head, on both sides. They respond severly to both light and sound and if I lie down or stand up quickly my head practically explodes. Lately my head has been hurting towards the top too. My neck has been getting tight and sore. I have no nausea, and and the pain is almost never so severe that I can't tough it out and get to class. Oh, and I've noticed that I start feeling really warm when I get them too, I don't run a fever but I feel like I'm burning up. Does anyone else experience this? Anyway, I hope that you can offer some suggestions. Thank you all!
