Hello,
I'm not sure where to turn for information so I thought I'd try here. My girlfriend has had a pain behind her right ear for the last month. A week ago, a doctor examined her in ER and says she has Mastoiditis. Since then she's had bad pain and swelling behind the ear. Yesterday, her ear started leaking air and making a whistling sound. Not to try and sound gross or anything, but it sounded like she was passing gas from her ear. As soon as this release of air happens, she gets dizzy and vomits. Not only that, a clear liquid leaks out when the air finally releases. Then the pain comes back and a couple of hours later, it happens again (Air pressure, leakage of liquid and vomiting). They've done bloodwork and say it's not septic and she's been on I.V. antibiotics for 3 days.
My question is this...Has anyone ever been in this situation? If yes, do you have any suggestions of what this may be? I'm not a doctor, but I feel like something inside the ear is building up and releasing this pressure, as it's also leaking fluids.
ANY information or suggestions would be greatly appreciated. We're supposed to be seeing the ENT Monday so hopefully, something goes right.
