Head aches, pain around the eye and dizziness

Hi

This is regarding my girlfriend. She is 26 years old and has been having headaches for sometime now. The headaches are essentially temple throbbing and pain at the back of her head. however from around 6 months or so her right eye has also started hurting with the pain all around the eye. She has short sightedness(power of 3.5) with estigmatism. Also from a few months she starts feeling dizzy once in a while where she feels light and cannot focus of the work or anything that she is doing. However the feeling of dizziness goes away if she sits down for a while.

Now she has gone to a doctor and has got her eyes checked and the doctor has said that the power of her short sightedness hasnt increased and that there is nothing wrong with her eye. She has also got a brain scan and nothing has shown up in the scan. She keeps having the headaches frequently (every 2-3 days), pain in her eye less frequently (once a week or so) and the feeling of dizziness every 2-3 days.

While we have shown her to individual doctors for each of these individual conditions, I have been thinking that we should go to one doctor who can look at all the conditions as a whole. Also has anybody had a similar condition and what did it turn out. She went to a doctor yesterday as she was felling dizzy and the doctor listened to all the conditions and said that since she has been having all these symptoms for a wile now it should not be anything major which I dont agree.

Please help if anyone can.

There also called cluster headaches cause I'm expericeing them as well right now mine started friday, the're continuing as well poopy

Now I have an appt. tommorrow at 1:15 pm so I'll write 2 u, tell u everything I four out about them ok

It kind of sounds like an ocular migraine. They're kind of rare like the kind I get. Get her to a neurologist they would know best...I've only glanced over the info as it didn't apply to me and I don't know what the treatment or prevention should be. There's a great website for migraine sufferers. They aren't trying to sell anything, written by sufferers for sufferers and their loved ones. Just Google MAGNUM. That's the name. navigation leaves a little to be desired. The Mayo clinic is also a great source of info

Do u all think just think that all of this might be stamming from my neck, my 3 bulging discs in my neck cause my whole neck is hurting all the time as well???

Hi I suffered from headaches and dizziness all my life. 5 years ago I discovered that I was Salicylate Intolerant, allergic to aspirin and all foods containing salicylates. Aspirin is a salicylate that comes form the bark of the willow tree. All plants produce salicylates as a natural insecticide. It is in things likes fruit,most vegetables, tomato sauce, olive oil and many more. Theres a good list of foods in the book,"Salicylate Intolerance and The Healthier I Ate the Sicker I Got."

Right before I hit bottom I had such a pain in my right eye that I went for a CAT scan to rule out a tumor. Once I went on a low sal diet I got rid of my headaches,sizziness, nausea, neck pain, arthritis, asthma, dry eyes, nosebleeds and a foggy headed feeling.

No one should just accept a diagnosis of Cluster Headaches when they can prevent them by finding out whats causing them. Its usually a food intolerance. Unfortunately there is no test for Salicylate Intolerance because it isnt an allergy. You have to go off the foods that are high and very high in sals and see how you feel. Good luck, Joan

Well I think I finally finally figured it all out it is wwwwwwaaaaaaaayyyyyyyyyyyyy 2 much soda, any soda 4 that matter how i found out was no soda, no headache, the soda headache so no more soda 4 Kate DDDAAAMMMNNN

Dear Pickingchick, I am glad you discovered that the headaches were from something you were drinking. However if they come back it may be that the soda was just the tip of the iceberg. I also had a bulging disk in my neck which I suffered with for 25 yrs after a car accident. After I discovered that my migraines were triggered by a food intolerance I started to see a dierct correlation between my neck pain and eating foods high in salicylates.

I am in complete shock by your original post. Her symptoms are mine EXACTLY!! I too have been to see an eye doctor who told me that my eyes were great.
My eyes were what started first - seeing shadow-like images out of the corner of my eye. Slowly, weeks later, the dizzy feeling came on. As far as headaches, I thought this must be sinus related so I went to my doctor. He told me it sounded more like a migraine. I thought he was insane because I've never had a migraine in my life. After a few days of normalcy, I thought everything was good. Wrong. My vision seemed blurred at times and was dizzy quite often. Seemed better once I'd sit or lay down. Sore or tender spots on my temple area and at the base of my neck. Long story short, a friend fold me it sounds like I have fibromyalgia. ?? Curious to know what and if your gf went back to the doctor and if so, what was determined?

When I was 26 I began having similar types of pain. It felt like someone was taking a skewer and driving it into points in my brain. They were nothing like tension or sinus headaches. It didn't fit migraines, or other typical headaches. The pain can last several hours to several days. Several months will pass pain free and then I will have several in a month. Tons of over the counter pain killers would only lighten the pain. I went to doctor after doctor with no solutions. We then moved to Minnesota and Mayo Clinic diagnosed the pain as cluster headaches. The diagnosis alone was a relief. I now have been having them on and off for twenty years now.

It is important to find a neurologist who has the experience with clusters. Also just a suggestion, begin a journal when you get the pain. Write down what foods for a few days before, stress, weather, sleep, and also time of the month. I found caffeine (love soda), stress, and lack of sleep will bring mine on. I now get 8+ hours and have had no soda for 6 years! My clusters are down to one or two a year. Good luck. I hope this helps. Big hugs.

Most likely retinal migraines. Does she see flashing lights in front of her eyes when she has this headache/migraine? Does she see a blind spot? Whats her reaction to flashing lights like firetruck or police vehicle? How is she with her exercise, especially with stretching? What medications have been tried as an abortive? like Aspirin, Ibuprofen, Naproxen, anyone of these guys help? Is she maintaining a diary? If not, start right away, it will be VERY HELPFUL for the doc to decide what the heck is going on.

I had all these symptoms and my headache would come all of a sudden that I will have very little time to react. Over the period of 5 years and 10 drugs through my system, with very meticulous headache diary, my migraines are 3-4X a month. Now the retinal/ocular/eyes part has disappeared but at a times, I do feel stretch at eyeballs but almost always my headache starts at the base of neck on back side and in next 30-40 minutes serious throbbing starts. My current diagnosis if migraine but more specific diagnosis is not performed. I can give you a list of drugs I went through but it may not be of use. Let the doc decide whats best for her.

NOTE-My neuro specifically thanked me for maintaining that diary as it helped him to select a drug pretty quickly. Although it took about 9 months to ascertain and stabilize the dose. I maintain the diary even today.
