MRI OF BRAIN RESULTS-

 Hi everyone-

 

 Was experiencing headaches & other cognitive symptoms....PLUS..loss of balance (just a bit)-  last 2 months or so.

 

 Went to my neurologist- had a thorough "Neuro exam"..(memorey..cognitive test...balance...walking etc)--- & she said I did well on that.   But--she knew for my peace of mind....I wanted & she requested MRI of brain....Tuesday..Nov.18.  (Said some 'recent memory loss"...was normal for my age...61--

 

Got my results. Wed...& immediately faxed them to my neuro.   Then I called...& spoke to her nurse practioner..OK....everything was OK..."normal"..

 

IMPRESSION:

1) No intracranial mass-effect

 

2) New fluid opacification within right mastoid air cells & right petrous apex.

 

The Neuro Nurse Practioner--said she & Neurologist looked at it ..& everything was fine.(No tumor)

 

I asked about  #2..."new fluid opacification"...

She said there was fluid in my "Mastoid" cavity.....meaning there was some inflammation.  It should resolve on its own ---

OK---I feel relief & peace of  mind.....that nothing serious was found.

My question---can this "Opacification"..(meaning thick opaque fluid) was in my mastoid....canal--CAN this create this.."strange"...feeling of  "balance loss"...?

 

I shoulda asked the nurse...but was so happy,....nothing serios was found!

 

ANYONE else--have this..."Mastoid opacification"....& symptoms that go with it?

Are you guys ok? I too had mastoiditis...which I believe led to many complications. Probably because they didn't treat it very long. My life has really changed. since. I developed several blood clots in the sinuses of my brain. They found this a few weeks after getting out of the hospital with mastoiditis. I developed stroke like symptoms and grand mal seizures. Several hospital stays, home health care at one point I am steal dealing with this. It has been a year and a half. I told all of my drs my neck was very sore, but no one took it serious. Just recently my regular md decided to do an ultrasound. Multiple enlarged lymph nodes in my submandibular region. They recommended biopsy. My dr decided a ct scan first. It showed a lot more, including along my carotid arteries. Now I realize this could have been from the mastoid infection, but they may have ignored it too long. Still waiting on the biopsy. *sigh*
