Hello everyone,

I've been a migraine sufferer since I was in my teens. It seemed to be low blood sugar issue when I didn't eat back then. I would get auras and a lot of vomiting, and be out of commission for a good 12-24 hrs.

I then had a period in my early to mid 20's where I didn't seem to get them anymore. No idea why. I started getting them again in my late 20's to my current age of 35, and now it seems the main trigger is the weather. Low pressure systems and rain.

I understand there are a multitude of reasons why we all get M's, and just as many solutions. Some work, some don't.

My question is, if I know there is going to be rain in the next day or so, or a low pressure system coming in, is there anything I can take to preemptively avoid the migraine?

I've had about 3 in the last 2 months now, which is a definite increase in frequency. I've also recently started on hormone therapy (testosterone), and I am hoping that isn't contributing to it either.

Interesting..

I wonder if you have a headache diary to ascertain that its rain and low pressure that is the cause of your headaches? Honestly, that could very well be mind playing with you. I have experienced this stuff (at the same time, I am not at all denying that it is not)

If I may ask, why did you undergo hormone therapy so early?

I had my blood tested and my level was at 12, when it should have been at 30. That increased my mortality rate by 250%...all due to my shift work and job.

You could be right...unfortunately, I haven't kept a diary. I should have...:(

What level you are talking about?
Who said your mortality probability increased by 250%? This is all statistics at work and unfortunately, it can be presented the way a presenter wants it. I have Ulcerative colitis and that increases chances of colon cancer but majority of this statistics comes from a race I do not belong to. STILL insurance companies want me to charge 400% of healthy person's premium... So do I believe it? NO. Do I consider it as a red flag? Yes and I made lifestyle change that colon cancer will stay from me.

My testosterone level was at 12...the doctor, a hormone specialist stated my mortality rate due to the low testosterone was 250% higher than someone who has a normal amount in their body. You must remember, that testosterone is a healing hormone, it stands quite logically then that your body will not fully repair itself if the levels are too low. That includes the cells in my cardiovascular system, on top of everything else. What I CAN tell you is how much better I've felt with the hormone treatment...tons more energy, better sleep, 3x muscle recovery. The results don't lie, and can't be misconstrued since it's what I am experiencing.

While I understand your concern and skepticism, it's difficult to argue with cold hard facts. And I'm not able to give up my job and effect a life style change in such a way as you have, which would undoubtedly help my levels bounce back on their own.

Honestly, I although understand what you are saying about changing lifestyle, the ball is in your court, do you want to be healthy or you want to be dependent on meds all the time? Also, if you are healthy, you can address your responsibilities far better way. Can you really do your job with migraines?

If its just testosterone that you are talking about, there are good amount gels in the market, even shots. To get going you can use them, like AndroGel or generic testosterone IM shots and start bringing a change in your lifestyle.

I am yet to come across any evidence between testosterone and migraine but if thats what your concern is, this is one way you could go. Second is, your age, testosterone level starts to plummet with age. There are folks who want to challenge the system and keep taking shot to remain healthy but levels higher than recommended by body and you are inviting prostate cancer.. So choose your battle.
