Hi, the thunderstorm that was predicted 3 days ago finally happened...needless to say I have had this headache since Wednesday (it is now Friday). Dizzy, nauseated, stiff neck and shoulders, cranky(not like me at all), TIRED, but can't sleep.
I didn't have any on hand, but I have found that Dramamine, pain reliever and tummy relief like tums helps if I catch it at it's very onset. I was at work when this headache "washed" over me. It only took about an hour after onset before I knew I was in trouble, and went home. If I can't catch the h/a right away, I take a Percocet and go to bed with an icepack on my neck, all covered up..silent and dark. Usually works, except this time the low pressure system was very slow moving and I'm still home with an extremely sore neck, no headache, and I'm afraid all the noise and lights at work will set it off again.
I am a 51 year old female still menstruating, just not very regularly, so I'm thinking the increase in my headaches could also be a hormonal change. I used to be a chronic migraine sufferer, then I lost about 80 pounds and the h/a seemed to lessen. That was about 5 years ago, but now I think my age is becoming a factor in the increasing h/a occurrence.
I hate just having to live with "it", cause sometimes life has to stop to recover.
