Hey!
I'm not sure if doing this will give me any answers or what I'm even trying to achieve by doing it, but here goes!
I am a 17 year old girl (18 tomorrow, woo), studying A levels and I have suffered from bad headaches/migraines for as long as I can remember. When talking to the doctors about it, I feel stupid trying to explain the pain I am going through and often walk out forgetting to mention something or another.
So anyway, I'll start with the pain in my head! I can't really remember when this started, but it was within the past 2/3 years... I basically just have a constant pain lurking in my head, I'm not sure how to describe it has lead to me feeling dizzy and I've also recently (past 2 months or so) started getting this minor pain mostly above and slightly behind my right eye.
My migraines never used to be this frequent, but now their bordering on one every week or two, lasting 3 days max and they're very bad, sometimes bring me to tears... I just have to lay in bed in the dark and try to sleep it off. My eyes start to hurt when around bright lights (migraine or not). This mixed in with the constant pain, it's just bringing me down! My mum is so intrigued to know why my doctor hasn't suggested an MRI scan or referred me to a Neurologist yet.
I've ruled out all the regulars like stress, cheese, chocolate and milk etc. and I just can't seem to get to the bottom of it, just kind of feels like I'm doing more than the doctors :/
I've been on all sorts of medication, from;
Propranolol - 40mg 3 times a day
Imigran(Sumatriptan) - 50 mg tablets
Zomig(Zolmitriptan) - 2.5mg tablets
Currently on Topiramate - 50mg twice a day (recently reduced from 75mg twice a day... Why? Your guess is a good as mine)
As well as Topiramate, I am taking a lot of Nurofen, Ibuprofen and Paracetamol.
I'm not really sure what else to say... any comments or advice would be very much appreciated!
Meghan :)
