Geez, this is the fifth time I've tried to post this (keep losing my blasted ISP connection due to bad storms). OK, I didn't mean to imply that just taking a medication that gives you "dry mouth" , as a side effect, would automatically give you cavities. If you are in a position to have water or other beverage with you at all times, you should be fine. However, at the time I was taking Depakote for migraine prevention, I was trying to work an eight hour retail job and only had access to water at my break time. I chewed sugarless gum, but apparently that will not keep the cavities from forming due to the "dry mouth." Understand the warning now?
I have been plagued with migraines since I was in elementary school, but just in the last eight months they have been really bad. Like 3/4 a week. I have been on or tried pretty much every medication out there, and since I had a gastric bypass three years ago, pretty much nothing helps for pain except for narcotics. When I had kidney stones last year, Morphine didn't even work on me. I'm on Topamax for prevention, Stadol NS to stop a headache up front, but if I miss it or wake up with a full blown migraine, its off to the ER for a shot. I'm also on Effexor XR, Wellbutrin and Klonopin for depression and anxiety/panic disorder, and I throw in some Napricin and Nexium for a really bad back. darn---JUST SHOOT ME NOW!!!
I have recently read Heal Your Head and I have found that it is really extreme for most people to handle. Personally, it wouldn't bother me as much as most people. My major trigger is weather/environmental changes, and then some hormonal stuff thrown in. However, try to take away my two bottles of C2 I drink per day (caffiene is negligible), and I will have you killed. So many people are unknowingly in an unending cycle of rebound headaches, between the pain and depression of going cold turkey, I think people would get pretty suicidal or end up feeling like total failures if they cave in any fall off their individual apple cart.
Jest my 2 cents.
