has everyone with headache had an mri ?

yes, i've had multiple mri's and ct scans in my 46 year quest for answers to severe migraine. having been reading another wonderful forum JUST for migraineurs for 17 years, i know that everyone has pain in different parts of their heads.

too often, neuros think migraine has to be just one-sided. not true. mine started one-sided, all those years ago, then went to the other side, and now the pain is all over my head and quite unpredictible.

sometimes it's burning in the entire back of my head, sometimes stabbing pains in the top. a mri can be useful for ruling out other disorders, but usually nothing shows that's out of the ordinary. how can this be????we ask, when the pain is so awful? nobody knows; it just is. unfortunately.

have you had other tests? don't give up. go to a neurologist if you haven't already. they tend to be arrogant and think throwing a drug at you will make you go away. if you get someone like this, change doctors asap. imho. dianne

Ty you both my dr says I don't need an mri that's y I was curious she said my next step would be physcal therapy for tight neck muscles . Im just so concerned about a tumor etc.

If you are that concerned as for the MRI, however, if the CT was clear an MRI is warrented by most Doctors and Insurance carries. Only if CT shows the slightest hint of abnormality, do they perscribe an MRI in most cases.

In my opinion, CT is a must more clarifying test.

I also worry about this. with my problem i have had a ct scan and an mri.both came back ok but the mri shows i have a small frontal lobe. no tumors they say yet i still worry as the pain is still there.

i have even had my girlfriend call and specifically ask if i had a tumor. i guess what iam getting at is are you like me and tend to over worry?

yea, thats me too. even when i get an answer i doubt it...
