Are these ever missed on an MRI???

I have had 3 MRI's and 1 CT Scan.  One would think an MRI wouldn't miss one, but wanted to ask.  I do have 3 small lesions (non specific-migraine-MS looking lesions)

Hi Jon,

I don't know how many (if any) tumor's are missed. However, I do know about MS looking lesions. My step-mother has MS. These lesions are "scar" tissue on the brain and as far as I know don't look like tumors. My neurologist says that there are other ways to tell if there is a tumor, movement tests, eye tests and a lot of the things you mentioned to rightcoastsurf in the other message thread. Have you asked your neurologist about the liklihood these can be missed?

I would ask the members of the MS forum about the MS looking lesions. They will know a lot more than me. MS is a difficult disease to diagnose but headaches are a symptom.

Yup and thanks.  Got my answers from the neuro. Lesions are more like pancakes/coins..flat.  Tumor is typically more defined and round so it shows up on more than one silce of the picture.

Hi Jon,

That's good news, right? I know that each time I go to the doctor with blurred vision and a numb face and he says "its not a brain tumor" I have mixed feelings. On one hand I'm glad I'm not dying but on the other hand I know there's no cure for headaches. sad

Good luck. If it turns out to be MS there are a lot of advances being made in that area as well. My step-mom lives with it fairly well. She's in her 50s and still lives a full life.

Thanks.  Right now they are calling the spots incidental findings because they haven't changed in over a year.  Neuro in Chicago said if it was MS, most likely the lesions would change/come and go/multiply without meds to help slow that down.  I also have had no physical symptoms or optic neuritis.  Just headaches out of the blue.
