Aura after having nerve ablation (radiofrequency)

Has anyone experienced Aura Migraines as a side effect of having nerve ablation for neck pain?

 

*I have had migraines with aura for 40 years

*I had PFO closure June 18,2010

* I had no aura/migraine for 6 mo

*I had a neck injury in 2007 and have had several nerve ablations for pain

*I had a nerve ablation on 12/31 and the first of at leat 20 Aura migraines on 1/1 (happy frikin new year rolleyes )

 

I cannot find any causal relation of nerve ablation to migraine. All the info I have found points towards people having ablations to REDUCE migraines.

 

It is getting to the point I am afraid to go out in fear I will not be able to see to drive home.

Wow this was a long time ago. Little did I know I would still be dealing with this 1/16!! I am learning to live with the auras as a regular part of my daily life.

They have reduced in frequency to approximately 2-3 a week. (reduced quite a bit after leaving an extremely stressful job situation)

Turned out the nerve ablation had nicked the occipital nerve, making my migraine threshold lower.

It is hard to see that I have been dealing with this situation for 5 years! It is also a relief to see my life has changed, and I am no longer laying in a dark room awaiting the next lightning bolt!
