I ran across this site after doing a search for "taking zomig every day" and read a string of comments from 2006 about
this same thing. I have had migraines most of my life (I'm 51, perimenopausal) so as many of you know, I've "tried it all." I have not had luck with preventive meds and nothing to abort the headache has worked. I used to have to go into the emergency room quite often when I couldn't tolerate the pain any more. Over the years different things were given to me in the ER, the last years were Demerol which worked fairly well and didn't leave me in a fog for 4 days afterwards. I tried various triptans and Zomig worked. It's the first thing that has ever worked. I've been taking it for years (maybe as many as 15?) It takes 1 1/2 hours to work but when I take it early in the headache it almost always works. The last few months I've been getting migraines almost everyday, prior to that it wasn't unusual to have a 7-14 headaches a month (give or take a few, depending on the month) often before or after my period. I've been trying other things lately (over the counter) because I know the Zolmitriptan is not intended to be taken that frequently. I also take an antidepressant (Buproprion, generic for Wellbutrin). I had a stroke when I was 40, followed by
open heart surgery to close a hole. My heart at that time was healthy, my blood pressure and everything else has always been good. I'm a little underweight and after the hole closure my headaches changed from aura, light and sound sensitivity, vomiting, numbness, side headache pain, etc. to fewer symptoms (unless I wait too long) and most noticeably the change of
location of the pain. Now the pain starts above/around my eye (sometimes left sometimes right). Please help!! Thank you.
