Hi, I'm a 21-year-old male.

I've had this issue for about 3 months now where occasionally, while walking/jogging, the left side of the back of my brain, as well as my left calf (behind the knee cap) sort of jolts. It's hard to explain, but it's like they're being stretched and shocked at the same time, kinda tingling. This feeling lasts for 2 seconds at most.

Furthermore, I haven't been having headaches not usually, but I've been having a pulsating/throbbing feeling in my temple (and other muscles/veins in that area), again mostly on the left side of my head.

I'm not worried about this, just curious.

Any ideas on what it could be?

Hello & welcome to the forum. There really is no way of knowing what can be causing these incidents without seeing a dr. They very well could be nothing but that is for a dr to determine. The behind the knee thing could be stepping the wrong way without realizing it. The throbbing in the temple could be stress related, but again a visit to the dr would be best. I urge you to not cruise the internet looking up these symptoms either. All this will do is confuse you & kick up the stress level 10 fold. Too many conditions over lap each other in the symptom department.

This could be anything from dehydration to a pinched nerve and anything in-between.

I strongly suggest you make an appointment with your doctor, list symptons and how often. Also list any symptoms that occur when not running.

Also, I would not run, but walk until you see the doc.

Susie, The temple throbbing could be stress, to be honest.

Trina, I don't think it's dehydration because it's been going on for the past couple of months. It could be a pinched nerve, but those should you away within a couple of weeks, no? Things has been going on for the past few months


I actually just talked to my doctor and he said the behind the knee thing is also probably nothing more than stress. I'm not convinced, though.

depending on the what is pinching the nerve, it can get worse.

I urge you to see a chiropractor, neurologist, or ask your doctor for a full physical,

Talk about you anxiety and stress, worries.

Do you and a hard time sleeping? and what can be done about this.

A detain conversation has to take place.

It could also be one of the medications I'm on. I'm on an SSRI, an anti-psychotic, and a beta blocker. I'm aware that one of the withdrawal symptoms of the SSRI is "brain zapping"; however, this shouldn't be an issue because I am still currently taking the Zoloft.
If by a full physical you mean a blood test, EKG, and blood pressure check, I got those all done. Everything showed up clean/normal.
I don't really have a hard time sleeping except when it's cold, but I feel that's an issue with everyone.


EDIT: The pinched nerve feeling so far no longer happens in my left leg. Now, it's just the back left quadrant of my brain

Update: my doctor says the pinched nerve could be a somatic delusion and told me to take Benadryl for three days and see how I feel.
