hopefully, the neuro will be better able to help her. a gp might see one migraine a day or week for that matter- a neuro prob sees many a day.

i am glad she is going to a specialist. here's hoping she gets some relief.

>i am not knocking general practitioners- they are the jack's of all trades and know something about everything. the neuro will probably order more tests and be up on the latest treatments. i know when i went to mine, i felt relieved to know that i didn't have a deadly brain tumor or blood vessel in the brain just waiting to explode or some crazy head trauma! i know- sounds dramatic but i swear i used to worry about things like that. the neuro tried me on indural (beta blocker) but i did not like how i felt. he's the one who told me to try daily calcium-magneseum supplements.

i am sure you are on the right path and she/he will beable to guide you . i love my regular docs but usually treated the pain- the neuro helped more as far as preventing and educating. i am glad i went. good luck, heat! keep us updated, ok? maybe your new doc will have ideas that will help others too.

my first neuro appt consisted of me going over my migraine diary and telling him what i had tried, what worked, etc. they he had be go for an mri. he started me on topamax and gave me tons of samples of triptans (which unfortunately i cannot take due to an allergic reaction).

Thanks for the info!  I'm looking forward to getting her in to see him and hopefully get her some relief.  She did see the eye doc and he picked up some slight eye problems that could be causing her headaches, but he suggested waiting to see what the neurologist thinks.
