Hi! This is my first time posting a question on this site. My headaches go in cycles. I'll go for a month or so without having a headache and then one day I'll get a headache that lasts anywhere from a week to a month. I often end up on this site when they get closer to a month in duration. I always thought that it felt like sinus pain, but without any congestion. However, the allergy medicine prescribed by my ENT did not help. The pain hurts around and above my eye and across the back of my head, neck and shoulders. I only use over the counter headache medicine and never take more than the recommended dose, but much of the time it doesn't even take the edge off. My head hurts when I go to bed and starts again midmorning.
I do drink caffeine, usually 1 can of Diet Coke a day. My routine is not any different during the times that I have headaches and the times that I don't, so I'm at a loss for finding a trigger.
There have been a few occasions where I have seen an aura which lasts for about 30 minutes, but this rarely happens, so I don't know if all of my headaches are migraines or just those few.
Does anybody have an idea as to what kind of headache this is? How do you know when it's time to go see you doctor?
Thanks for your help!
