Hi passiongirl,
Welcome and thanks for your message. Unfortunately I know your pain. I'm 35 and my migraines started badly 10 years ago. I had them as a child but didn't know I could have them this bad. I'm on my third round of disability and have now been declared "disabled" by the government. I don't know if I will ever go back to work.
I tried for years to battle my migraines without medications or with natural remedies, unfortunately I realized the depression I was sufferering and the people around me were suffering and I needed some sort of control. The medication I count on the most is the anti-depressant. I am now on morphine for pain management and it works periodically. The last three weeks it hasn't been working and I have been battling my migraines 24 hours a day.
I see a naturopath / chiropractor and he has many remedies that relieve some of my pain. Because he is a chiropractor he is able to do crano sacrial work and keep the fluid flowing and that usually does wonders for me. He doesn't cure me completely but he definitely lessens my pain.
I have come to realize that suffering constant pain moved me from being a migraine sufferer to also being a chronic pain sufferer. Along with chronic pain often comes depression. When I am committed to many activities I often get overwhelmed that I won't be able to live up to my commitments, which adds to my stress and then makes my headaches and depression worse. We find that if we can control the depression, the headaches are much more manageable.
I hope some of this helps, or at least makes you feel better knowing you're not alone out there.
Good luck.
