Has anyone had any expericence w/ this medicine?

I was just given some for my headaches today.

I've taken it before, but i was just wondering if anyone here has used it before?

I agree.

Nothing works for me either.  :(

Narcotics helps the most, but it's more that it just relalxes me.

Doesn't take the pain away like it should.  :(

Triptans are mostly for migraines right?

I have alot of horrible tension headaches.

Not so much migraines.

I have tried maxalt and relpax.

I hated them and they made me really sick to my stomach.

And they didn't work.  :(

I am sorry that the triptans don't work for you. I hope you can find some relief with the Fioricet (sp) But please take care with the narcotic meds because it is all too easy to become addicted without realising it.

The secret is to make them work for you instead of the other way round, all the best with this!

I've used Fioricet - a muscle relaxant/tylenol/caffeine combination - as a painkiller for chronic daily tension-type headaches for years. Sometimes it helps, sometimes not. But be careful -- it can lead to rebound headache, like most painkillers. My doc limits me to 15 a month, and that's the only pain meds I take (along with Topamax as preventative).

I've read various guidelines, often suggesting if you're taking even OTC pain relievers more than 2 or 3 times a week, that can lead to rebound headache. Be careful, because you don't want to have to deal with that. Trying to stop headache pain by not taking any pain medicine for weeks on end is not a fun experience!

You didn't mention if your fioricet was with or without codeine.  It is addictive if it contains codeine.  Codeine is fairly mild narcotic, but still can get you hooked.  If you're taking fioricet and it helps, great.  I took it as part of a cocktail for my migraines for a long time before it no longer worked.  I might as well have swallowed chalk.  It takes much stronger narcs for me to get any relief now.
