Hi all - I am new here but have been on the IBS and MS forums. I've suffered from migraines since I was about
10 and I am 42. Generally, I would get one about
4-5 times a year and it would last a few days - I get the aura first for an hour and then the migraine pain. I always thought I was kind of lucky because I didn't get them too often.
about
a year and a half ago I got one in the morning. saw the lights = aura and then the headache. But then, I got another about
an hour later and then another and another - I had 8 in one day! After the 2nd day I went to the ER and was just told it was a cluster migraine. This lasted about
a week or so and then I went back to my regular pattern. The next year almost to the same month, it started again for about
a week. My dr doesn't seem to concerned but it was very scary. Anyone else have changes in their headache patterns like this?

Hi. Well I do know that I got them more sporadically until I hit around 45. Now I am getting them more frequently and around my periods and ovulation. My doctor and I agree it is hormonal changes, i.e. the dreaded start of perimenopause. --Shari

that is interesting, I have been the opposite- I used to get them 1 sometimes 2 a week- they would last from 24 hours to a week. I would get the auras (tunnel vision, sensitivity to light/sound/smell, seeing spots, etc...) and then i would begin vomiting... sometime in high school things changed to where I still got them all the time, but less auras if any... and then in college I had less migranes, and now I get about
1-2 a month. And no auras...

I do notice that I get them more around "that time of month" and also seasonally. The last 2 cluster attacks I had were both in April/May 2005 and 2006.
