Just got steriod injections in my neck today

Hi all! I am new here! I am so glad I found this board. I just got 8 steriod injections in my neck today. I went to my neurologist and I had a terrible tension headache that has been going on for 3 days. I had never had these before, and I was so scared and felt like I was going to throw up from being so nervous. I am happy I saw him today, and hope this works for me. I have my migraines under control at the moment and am taking Keppra 1000 mg bid. I only get migraines now maybe 3 times a month.

How many migraines would you say you had before compared to now?

Were the injections painful? What location did they give the injections?

The injections were given in the back of my head/neck. I used to get migraines 2 to 3 x a week until I got on the Keppra, took a while to get the dose up to where it worked for me. I am feeling better today, my neck is still sore but I think by tomorrow my neck should be better they said it takes about 2 days, so we will see. He told me I can get them once a month if I need them.

Hey zsmommie,

Sorry you are having so much trouble.  I got a round of occipital nerve injections for my migraines, but they didn't help.  They were in the back of my neck, over my right ear, and above my right eyebrow.  I could feel the end of the needle hitting my skull which was just gross.  Just one of many things I've tried to stop my migraines.  Didn't help a bit.  Keppra didn't do anything for me either.  I'm glad it works for you.

Hope the injections work for you.  Let us know how you are doing.
