Left Sided Headache...

I am having an increasing problem with severe headaches, making my feel nauseous in some instances.

I have been having them on and off for about 2 years. They have always been quite intermediate (if that is the right word) for the most part but since I was last on vacation they have seemed to get a whole lot worse. I was getting them daily on holiday normally starting around the 3pm ish time. At the time I jsut put it down to the heat which I wasn't used to. My holiday was in Florida and I live in the UK. My secondary thought was that it was possibly the extremeties of going from air conditioned buildings to the outside so often throughout the day.

On one of the days, I was riding a rollercoaster and I felt my left ear pop. It was much like the typical poping from an aeroplane but this was accompanied with a really sharp pain.

In general the headaches start about an inch above my left ear and then spread in all directions from there, the main of the pain spreading to the front and back of my head on the left side. I find it also leaves a dull numb feeling of pain around my eye socket on the left side.

The only thing I can think it could be is a repercussion from banging my head about 4 years ago in a swimming pool. Although I can not remember what side that occured.

Has anyone any ideas about what this could be?

I am 27yrs old and have been dealing with this for a while. It started off with chest pain and then that feeling of something being stuck in my throat. I'm tired and feel like my head is in a cload, that spacey feeling. I don't have this symptoms all the time they come and go. I had this feeling in my throat all day long some days. Eating never had anything to do with it. It would come even on an empty stomach. I have had Drs. tell me it is acid relux. I seen a GI Dr. and he did a EGD with a bravo placement to check my bodys PH level. Like I already knew I didn't have acid reflux. I didn't think I had all the symptoms. I didn't have the burning feeling in my chest and the acid taste in my mouth. My Dr. sent me in to have an MRI done. To make sure everything was ok in that area. I seen a Neurologist to get the results and found out that I have Chiari Malformation Type 1. Only an MRI can tell f you have this. Not an X-ray or Ct scan Basically Chiari Malformation is where your brain is to big for your skull or your skull is miss shaped and it pushes you brain back. It causes the brain tonsils in the back of your head to be pushed out of the bottom of your skull. Causing a hernia. They call it herniated tonsils. It restrict the spinal fluid to your brain. It can cause alot of problems.

binaceja-- Did you see a doctor after that occured? Obviously I'm not a doctor or anything, but most of the things you said are signs of a minor stroke, I would look into that if I were you.

See the neurologist again and have him do an MRI. After that ask him about Chiari Malformation. A lot of people have been misdiagnosed with tension headaches and they have things more serious. Some Drs. are just lazy and they don't want to do their jobs right. But anyways really bad headaches are a symptom. Its worth a shot to at least get it checked out. If that isn't the problem. Just don't give up, keep pushing it. I had to bounce around from Dr. To Dr. to get the right answer. I finally found an great Dr. and she truly cares about her patients. I hope that you to can find a Dr. that cares and be able to find out whats causing your headaches.

I have has left side headaches for three weeks now on the top of my head, in the back and on the temple. They are always left sided. I get them day and night. Even when I don't have a headache, a spot on the top left of my head hurts if I shake my head from front to back. I have recently been having anxiety attacks worrying about the headaches and I think that is causing other symptoms. I do get some mild numbness in my left hand and foot when I am nervous. Has anyone else had these problems.
